Colour & specimen: This fish's colouration may look different in your own tank depending on your lighting, diet, stress levels and water conditions, and can vary between individual fish of the same species. You will not receive this exact fish pictured; the one you receive will be a similar size, colour and condition.
WA & TAS orders: state biosecurity regulations restrict which live animals can be sent to Western Australia and Tasmania — please check what we can send to you before ordering. See delivery info
Ocean Nutrition frozen mysis with spirulina and garlic
Whole frozen mysis shrimp, enriched with spirulina and garlic. Ocean Nutrition flash-freezes whole mysis shrimp shortly after harvest, then adds spirulina for natural colour support and garlic to help immune function and parasite resistance. It suits most freshwater and marine aquarium fish that take a meaty frozen food, from tetras and gouramis through to marine fish and corals taking the fine particles released as it thaws.
Key features
- Whole mysis shrimp — flash-frozen soon after harvest, so the shrimp arrive largely intact rather than as a paste.
- Spirulina added — a natural pigment source that supports colour development in fish over repeated feeds.
- Garlic added — included to support immune function and resistance to parasites, and commonly used to encourage reluctant feeders to strike.
- Flash-frozen — limits nutrient leaching into the water compared with slow home-freezing.
- 100 g blister pack — pre-portioned for easy dosing.
Ingredients
Reproduced verbatim from the manufacturer: Mysis, spirulina, garlic.
Ocean Nutrition does not publish a guaranteed analysis (crude protein, fat, fibre, moisture, ash) for this spirulina-and-garlic formulation specifically. The figures published for plain frozen mysis without these additions don't apply once spirulina and garlic are added, so we haven't carried them over. The current pack label is the authoritative source if you need exact figures.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: freshwater and marine aquarium fish that accept a meaty frozen food, including tetras, gouramis, cichlids, marine fish, and many corals and filter feeders that take the fine particles released as the food thaws.
Not suitable for: fish too small to manage whole mysis — check nano species and fry against the thawed liquid and fine particles rather than feeding whole pieces.
Thawing and feeding
How do I thaw it?
Thaw a portion in a small amount of tank or aquarium water rather than at room temperature, then feed the thawed food and liquid together. Never refreeze thawed food.
How often should I feed it?
Feed two to five times a day, offering only what your fish will fully consume within five minutes. Remove uneaten food promptly to protect water quality.
Storage and cold chain
This is a frozen product. Transfer it to your freezer as soon as it arrives and keep it at -18°C or below. Because the cold chain matters for frozen foods, get in touch with us before ordering if you need certainty on delivery timing — local pickup is the most reliable way to keep frozen items properly cold in transit.
Goes well with
Rotate this with our other Ocean Nutrition frozen lines — red plankton, squid and rotifers — for dietary variety, and pair with a feeding tongs or turkey baster for controlled, mess-free dosing into the tank.
Warranty and delivery
As a perishable frozen food, this product isn't covered by a manufacturer warranty the way equipment is; your rights under Australian Consumer Law still apply if a pack arrives damaged, spoiled or not as described. See the storage and cold chain note above for delivery handling.
Common questions
Can I feed mysis to a nano tank?
Whole mysis shrimp are sized for adult community and marine fish; for a nano tank, thaw a portion and offer the fine particles and liquid rather than whole pieces.
Does spirulina replace a vegetable-based flake in the diet?
No — spirulina here is included as a colour-supporting ingredient within a meaty food, not as a substitute for a dedicated herbivore diet.
Why is garlic added to fish food?
Garlic-enriched foods are commonly used to support immune function and encourage feeding in reluctant fish, though it isn't a treatment for disease.
Can I refreeze leftover thawed food?
No — refreezing thawed food increases the risk of spoilage and nutrient loss. Thaw only the portion you'll use.
