- High protein, low fat — a lean, protein-dense food for carnivorous species.
- Finely minced — a soft texture that's easy for predatory fish to take and digest.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: carnivorous and predatory freshwater and marine fish, including larger cichlids, marine predators and other species that take a meaty protein food.
Not suitable for: small community fish, fry or herbivorous species — the protein density and texture suit larger predatory feeders rather than grazers.
Thawing and feeding
How do I thaw it?
Thaw a portion in a small amount of tank or aquarium water, then feed the thawed food. Never refreeze thawed food.
How often should I feed it?
Feed two to five times a day, offering only what your fish will fully consume within five minutes. Remove uneaten food promptly, as the high protein content can affect water quality if left to break down.
Storage and cold chain
This is a frozen product. Transfer it to your freezer immediately on arrival and keep it at -18°C or below. Contact us before ordering if you need certainty on delivery timing for frozen items — local pickup keeps the cold chain most reliable.
Goes well with
Rotate with our other Ocean Nutrition frozen lines — mysis, red plankton and rotifers — to broaden the diet beyond a single protein source.
Warranty and delivery
As a perishable frozen food, this isn't covered by a manufacturer warranty the way equipment is; your rights under Australian Consumer Law still apply if a pack arrives damaged or not as described. See the storage and cold chain note above for delivery handling.
Common questions
Is squid suitable for a reef tank?
It's aimed at carnivorous fish rather than corals or filter feeders; check the suitability notes above before feeding it in a mixed reef system.
Can I cut portions smaller for smaller predators?
Yes — the mince is already fine, but you can break a thawed portion into smaller pieces for fish that take smaller mouthfuls.
Why is the fat content so low?
Squid meat is naturally lean; the 0.1% fat figure reflects the manufacturer's guaranteed analysis for this product rather than any processing.
Will this cloud my water if I overfeed?
Any uneaten high-protein food affects water quality as it breaks down, so feed only what your fish will finish within five minutes and remove the rest.
