Red Sea ReefMat 500/1200 Sensor

Fixes fleece that won't stop, or won't start. The Red Sea ReefMat 500/1200 Sensor is the genuine water-level sensor that tells the 500 and 1200 roller filters when the fleece has loaded and needs advancing — the right part when the roller runs constantly, advances too early, or doesn't advance at all.

Key features
  • Detects fleece loading — triggers the drive to advance only when the fleece actually needs it.
  • Genuine Red Sea sensor — factory-matched to the ReefMat 500 and 1200 control system.
  • The cheaper part to check first — a dirty or faulty sensor is the most common cause of erratic advancing, well before the drive itself is at fault.
Specifications
Fits ReefMat 500, ReefMat 1200
Part number R35445
Sold as Single sensor
Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for a ReefMat 500 or 1200 that advances fleece constantly, advances well before the roll has loaded, or won't advance at all despite the drive running. Not the right part if the drive itself won't turn or makes no attempt to advance — check the ReefMat 500/1200 Drive Unit in that case.

Care and maintenance

Wipe the sensor window clean at every roll change. An algae film on the lens is the single most common cause of erratic advancing, and cleaning it costs nothing — check that before ordering a replacement.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by Red Sea's manufacturer warranty against defects, in addition to your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships standard parcel post.

Common questions

My ReefMat advances constantly — is this the part I need?

Usually, yes — but wipe the sensor window clean first. Algae film reads as constant loading and causes exactly this symptom without the sensor being faulty.

Does this fit the ReefMat 250?

No. This sensor is specific to the 500 and 1200. The 250 uses its own sensor part.
