Colour & specimen: This fish's colouration may look different in your own tank depending on your lighting, diet, stress levels and water conditions, and can vary between individual fish of the same species. You will not receive this exact fish pictured; the one you receive will be a similar size, colour and condition.

Reefalicious Live Zooplankton
A mixed live food for topping up reef biodiversity, not just feeding one thing. Reefalicious Live Zooplankton is a bottled blend of live marine microfauna for reef and marine aquariums, sold in 250 mL and 500 mL bottles. Where the other Reefalicious live foods are a single organism, this one is a mixed culture aimed at general biodiversity rather than one target feeder.
Key features
- A mixed culture, not a single species — Reefalicious describes it as a blend of tiny crustaceans and other micro-organisms, aimed at diversity rather than a single feeding niche.
- Useful for seeding a new system — a mixed dose gives a newly cycled tank or refugium a broader starting population than a single-species culture.
- Also works as a top-up in an established tank — reintroducing biodiversity that can decline over time in a closed system.
- Feeds a range of tank inhabitants — filter feeders, corals and small fish will pick off different elements of the mix.

Which Reefalicious live food do I need?
| Product | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Live Phytoplankton | Live marine microalgae | Feeding filter feeders directly, and fuelling your own copepod or rotifer cultures |
| Live Copepods | Live marine copepods | Mandarins, dragonets, wrasses and other pod-eaters; reef biodiversity |
| Live Rotifers | Live marine rotifers | First food for fish larvae and fry; supplementary filter-feeder food |
| Live Zooplankton | Mixed live marine microfauna | General biodiversity top-ups for a new or established reef system |
All four are sold in 250 mL and 500 mL bottles and are stored and shipped the same way — refrigerated, and used promptly after arrival.
Directions
Shake or swirl the bottle gently, then tip the entire contents into your sump, refugium or display tank. Because this is a mixed culture aimed at seeding biodiversity, a single dose into a refugium or area of undisturbed rock and sand gives the population the best chance to establish, rather than being eaten immediately.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: newly cycled marine and reef systems wanting a broader starting population; established tanks topping up biodiversity that's declined over time.
Not suitable for: freshwater systems, or as a targeted food for a specific fussy eater — use Reefalicious Live Copepods or Live Rotifers where you need a specific organism.
Storage and handling
Keep refrigerated and add to your tank as soon as practical after it arrives. Reefalicious doesn't publish a shelf life for this product; check any use-by information printed on the bottle.
Goes well with
- Reefalicious Live Phytoplankton — feeds the mixed population you're seeding.
- Reefalicious Live Copepods and Reefalicious Live Rotifers — for topping up a specific organism once the general population is established.
Warranty and delivery
As a live product, arrival condition is covered separately from standard warranty terms — get in touch straight away if a bottle arrives in poor condition. Otherwise the usual consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law apply.
Common questions
What's actually in the bottle?
Reefalicious describes it as a blend of tiny crustaceans and other micro-organisms rather than naming specific species — think of it as a general biodiversity mix rather than a single organism like the Live Copepods or Live Rotifers bottles.
Should I use this or Live Copepods for a mandarin dragonet?
Live Copepods is the more targeted choice for a specific pod-eater like a mandarin. Zooplankton is better suited to general biodiversity rather than feeding one fussy species.
Is this suitable for a brand new tank?
Yes — it's commonly used to help seed biodiversity into a newly cycled system, alongside your regular cycling process.
What's the difference between the 250 mL and 500 mL bottle?
Only the volume of live culture. The 500 mL bottle suits seeding a larger system or refugium in one go; 250 mL suits a smaller tank or a top-up dose.
