Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suited to after-dark viewing of scorpions, insects and other invertebrates that fluoresce under UVA light, fitted in a Creatures Dome Lamp Fixture or another fixture matched to its wattage and socket. Not suitable as a UVB or heat source. This is a 395 nm UVA viewing light – Zoo Med does not publish a UV Index rating for it, and it does not provide the UVB output reptiles need for vitamin D synthesis or the heat a basking bulb provides. Where an animal needs UVB or a basking gradient, use a dedicated Zoo Med UVB or heat bulb alongside this light, not instead of it.

Common questions
Does this bulb provide UVB for my reptile?
No. It's a 395 nm UVA blacklight for viewing fluorescence, not a UVB source. Zoo Med doesn't publish a UV Index rating for it, and it shouldn't be relied on to meet a reptile's UVB requirement.

Why is the warranty shorter than on other Zoo Med lighting?

Can I leave it running all night, every night?
Zoo Med markets it for periodic after-dark viewing rather than continuous operation, and doesn't publish a stated duty cycle – if in doubt, run it only while you're actively observing the enclosure.
