Zoo Med Hermit Crab "Bright" Water/Food Bowl

A shallow, easy-clean dish built for a hermit crab's two must-have water sources. The Zoo Med Hermit Crab Bright Bowl is a moulded neon dish for food, fresh water or marine salt water — sized and shaped so a hermit crab can climb in, drink or feed, and climb straight back out again.

Key features
  • Shallow, crab-safe profile — low enough sides for easy access in and out, reducing the drowning risk that comes with deep, straight-walled containers.
  • Multi-purpose dish — Zoo Med rates it for food, fresh water or salt water (use a separate bowl for each).
  • Hygienic and washable — a smooth moulded surface that Zoo Med states is easy to clean between refills.
  • Bright neon colour — Neon Red or Neon Blue, so it stands out against bark, sand and coco fibre substrate and is easy to relocate at a glance.
  • Purpose-built for land hermit crabs — part of Zoo Med's hermit crab habitat range.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
  • Suitable for: land hermit crabs (Coenobita species) kept in a terrestrial or semi-terrestrial crabitat, as a food dish, a fresh water dish, or a marine salt water dish.
  • Not suitable for: use as the crab's only water source. Land hermit crabs need both dechlorinated fresh water and properly mixed marine salt water available at all times — run one bowl per water type, and consider the two colours to keep them apart at a glance.
Care and maintenance

Rinse and refill daily. Use a dechlorinating conditioner in the fresh water bowl and a marine salt mix formulated for invertebrates in the salt water bowl — tap water and table salt are not safe substitutes. Wash with hot water between refills; Zoo Med markets the bowl as hygienic and easy to clean.

Goes well with
  • A second Bright Bowl in the other colour, so fresh and salt water dishes are never mixed up
  • A hermit crab-safe dechlorinator for the fresh water bowl
  • A marine salt mix for the salt water bowl
  • Zoo Med Hermit Crab Growth Shells, so growing crabs always have a next size up
Warranty and delivery

Sold with the standard Zoo Med retail warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard freight — no special handling required.

Common questions

Do I need one bowl or two?

Two. Land hermit crabs need constant access to both fresh water and marine salt water, so one Bright Bowl should be filled with fresh water and a second with properly mixed salt water — never the same bowl for both.

Is it deep enough for my crab to fully submerge?

No — it's a shallow dish by design, so crabs can drink and wet their gills without the drowning risk of a deep, straight-sided container. It is not intended as a soaking or swimming bath.

What's the difference between Neon Red and Neon Blue?

Colour only. Both are the same shape and size; many keepers use one colour for fresh water and the other for salt water so the two are never confused.

Does Zoo Med publish the bowl's dimensions or material?

No — Zoo Med's product listing confirms the bowl is hygienic, washable and easy to clean, but does not publish exact dimensions, capacity or the specific plastic used. We've flagged this for follow-up rather than guessing a figure.
