Zoo Med Humidity Plus Silicon Terrarium Cover 40x40cm
A silicone screen liner that cuts humidity loss without blocking airflow entirely. Zoo Med's Humidity Plus Silicone Terrarium Cover lays over a mesh terrarium lid and closes off the open weave that lets a naturally humid enclosure dry out too fast. It is trimmed to fit with household scissors, so a single 40 x 40 cm (16 x 16 in) sheet adapts to a range of screen-top terrariums.
Key features
- Cuts moisture loss – closes the open weave of a mesh lid so misting and natural evaporation hold humidity for longer.
- Trim to fit – supplied oversized at 40 x 40 cm; mark your lamp and vent positions in pen before cutting.
- One sheet, many setups – works across differently sized screen-top terrariums up to its full dimension.
- Simple to fit – no fixings; it sits directly on top of the existing mesh lid.

Important: it blocks UVB, it doesn't pass it
Zoo Med states plainly that UVB and UVA will not penetrate this material. Cut it back from any area where a UVB lamp is mounted, and leave that section of mesh open – covering a UVB lamp with this sheet stops the UV reaching your reptile even though the light still looks on.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for screen-top terrariums housing humidity-loving species – many geckos, chameleons, and tropical frogs and lizards.
- Not a substitute for correct ventilation – Zoo Med's own instructions note it reduces airflow, so leave open mesh for fresh air even after fitting it.
- Not suitable as a UVB filter or diffuser – position UVB and heat lamps over open mesh, not over the cover.
What's included
- One 40 x 40 cm silicone cover sheet.

Common questions
Will this stop my UVB lamp from working?
Only if you cover the lamp with it. Zoo Med confirms UVB and UVA do not pass through this material, so keep the area under your UVB lamp open and trim the cover around it.
Will it make my enclosure too humid or stuffy?
It reduces airflow by design, which is the point for humidity-loving species – but leave some open mesh for fresh air rather than covering the entire lid.
Can I cut it to a smaller shape?
Yes. Lay it over your screen lid, mark lamp and vent positions in pen, then trim with scissors.
