Bioscape CO2 Reagent B 200gms
Reagent B is the sodium bicarbonate half of Bioscape's two-part chemical CO2 system. It reacts with Reagent A (citric acid) and water inside a Bioscape CO2 Reactor to generate a steady CO2 supply for planted aquariums, without a gas cylinder or refill trips to a supplier.
Key features
- Pure sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) — the alkaline reagent in Bioscape's citric-acid-and-bicarbonate CO2 reaction, confirmed against Bioscape's own ARI10-11 generator manual.
- Sold as a 200 g refill — top up a Bioscape CO2 Reactor once the existing charge is spent, without replacing the reactor itself.
- No cylinder, no refill queue — the reaction is self-contained in the reactor bottle, so there's nothing to swap at a gas supplier.
- Must be paired with Reagent A — Bioscape's own instructions are explicit that Reagent B is only ever used in conjunction with Reagent A, never alone.

Dosage and directions
Bioscape's official ARI10-11 generator manual states a full charge combines 200 g of reagent with 300 mL of water inside the reactor bottle. Bioscape has not published the exact split between Reagent A and Reagent B within that 200 g, so we can't tell you here how many charges one 200 g pack of Reagent B alone will yield when paired with separately-purchased Reagent A — buying A and B together in matching pack sizes is the simplest way to avoid running out of one half mid-cycle.
Run at roughly one bubble per second, Bioscape states a charge lasts 60 days or more.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for: topping up a Bioscape CO2 Reactor (ARI10/ARI11) for planted freshwater aquariums.
- Not suitable for: use on its own — it does nothing without Reagent A and water, and it is not designed for pressurised gas-cylinder CO2 systems from other brands.
Safety
Store the powder dry and sealed until use. Follow Bioscape's manual for the reactor itself — the manual notes the reactor's internal pressure and warns that the system's solenoid valve (sold separately) is delicate and can be damaged if forced.
Warranty and delivery
Any fault on arrival is covered under your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a small parcel.
Common questions
Can I use Reagent B on its own?
No. Bioscape's instructions require Reagent A and Reagent B together with water — Reagent B alone will not generate CO2.
How long does a 200 g pack last?
Bioscape's manual states a full charge (both reagents combined, 200 g total, with 300 mL water) lasts 60 days or more at one bubble per second. The exact number of charges a single 200 g pack of just Reagent B provides depends on the A:B split, which Bioscape has not published.
Does this fit any CO2 reactor, or only Bioscape's?
It's formulated for the Bioscape CO2 Reactor system (ARI10/ARI11). We can't confirm compatibility with other brands' chemical reactors.
