Eco Tech T5 HO Light Unit
A high-output T5 fixture that pairs with almost any T5 HO tube. The Eco Tech T5 HO Light Unit is a reflector-backed fluorescent light fixture for aquariums, planted terrariums and reptile enclosures. It's sold as a bare unit — you choose and fit the T5 HO tube that suits your setup, whether that's a planted-tank spectrum tube or a reptile UVB tube.
Key features
- Mirror-tech reflector — a polished reflector said to increase usable light output by up to 300% compared with an unreflected tube
- Four sizes — 8 W, 24 W, 39 W and 54 W, matched to common T5 HO tube lengths
- Dual mounting — surface-mount it or suspend it above the enclosure; the 8 W unit can also sit on or inside a terrarium
- Slim profile — 60 mm wide and 40–45 mm high, so it sits neatly on a rim without dominating the setup

Which wattage do I need?
Match the wattage to the T5 HO tube length you want to run: 8 W units take a 300 mm tube, 24 W around 550–600 mm, 39 W around 850–900 mm, and 54 W around 1150–1200 mm. Check your tube's stated length before ordering, since the fixture and tube need to match.
What's included / not included
Included: the light unit, reflector and mounting fittings for surface or suspension mounting.
Not included: the T5 HO tube itself. This is sold separately — for reptile UVB use, the tube's own UV index and gradient data from its manufacturer is what determines a safe basking distance, not this fixture. For planted aquariums, any same-wattage high-output T5 tube will fit.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: aquariums, planted terrariums and reptile enclosures, once fitted with a tube suited to that use.
Not suitable for: use as a complete UVB lighting solution straight out of the box — it's a housing only, and needs a UVB-rated tube fitted before it provides any UV output.
Safety
Runs on 240 V / 50 Hz AU mains power. Fit only a tube matching the unit's stated wattage, and mount it securely using the supplied fittings before switching on.
Goes well with
A T5 HO tube matched to the fixture's wattage — a planted-spectrum tube for aquariums, or a UVB tube such as those in the ReptiSun T5 range for reptile enclosures.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by your rights under Australian Consumer Law in addition to any manufacturer warranty. Standard shipping applies.
Common questions
Does this come with a light tube?
No. The unit is sold as the fixture and reflector only — you'll need to buy a compatible T5 HO tube separately.
Can I use it for reptile UVB lighting?
Yes, once fitted with a UVB-rated T5 HO tube of the matching wattage. Use the tube manufacturer's own UV index and distance data to set a safe basking distance — this fixture doesn't produce UV on its own.
What does the reflector do?
The polished mirror-tech reflector directs more of the tube's light downward into the tank or enclosure instead of it being lost sideways or upward.
How do I mount it?
Use the supplied fittings to either surface-mount it on the rim or suspend it above the enclosure. The 8 W unit can also sit directly on or inside a terrarium.
