Exo Terra Termite Hill Cricket Feeder

Coat feeder insects in supplement powder without the mess. The Exo Terra Termite Hill Cricket Feeder is a two-piece dusting and feeding tool shaped like a termite mound. It holds a batch of crickets, coats them evenly in calcium or vitamin powder, then lets your reptile hunt them out through the tunnels — instead of you shaking a bag of loose crickets over the terrarium.

Key features
  • Two-piece dusting chamber — add ultra-fine calcium or vitamin powder to the deeper half, add crickets, fit the two halves together and shake gently to coat them.
  • Holds roughly 10–20 crickets — depending on their size.
  • Removable plug — pull the plug once placed in the terrarium and the coated crickets emerge gradually through the tunnels.
  • Reduces supplement waste — powder that doesn't stick to a cricket stays inside the feeder rather than falling onto the substrate, so it can be reused.
  • Encourages natural hunting behaviour — the animal works crickets out of the tunnels instead of finding them sitting in the open.
  • Natural termite-hill look — blends into a bioactive or naturalistic setup rather than sitting as an obvious plastic dish.

How to use it

Load and coat

Add ultra-fine calcium or vitamin powder to the deeper of the two pieces, then add 10–20 crickets, sized to suit your animal. Fit the two halves together and shake gently until the crickets are evenly coated.

Place and feed

Stand the feeder in the terrarium and remove the plug. Crickets emerge through the tunnels gradually, so your reptile hunts them over time rather than all at once.

Suitable for — and not suitable for

Suitable for dusting and dispensing live crickets and similar feeder insects for reptiles and amphibians that hunt live prey. Not a storage container for keeping crickets over multiple days — it's a feeding and dusting tool, not a cricket keeper.

Care and maintenance

Rinse and dry between uses to stop powder residue building up inside. Because unused powder stays inside the feeder rather than settling into the substrate, cleanup is mostly limited to the feeder itself.

Goes well with
  • A calcium or calcium + D3 supplement powder, sized to your gut-loading and dusting schedule.
  • A multivitamin supplement, for keepers alternating calcium and vitamin dusting.
Warranty and delivery

Covered by the standard consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law, in addition to any manufacturer term. Ships from our Brisbane / North Lakes warehouse.

Common questions

How many crickets does it hold?

Roughly 10–20, depending on their size.

Can I leave crickets in it overnight?

It's designed as a dusting and dispensing tool for a feeding session, not a long-term cricket enclosure — crickets should be fed out within the session rather than stored in it.

Does it work with vitamin powder as well as calcium?

Yes — the dusting method works the same way with either a calcium powder or a multivitamin powder.

Does the powder go to waste if the crickets don't get coated evenly?

Excess powder that doesn't stick to a cricket stays inside the feeder rather than falling into the substrate, so it isn't wasted the way loose dusting in an open container can be.
