Zoo Med Turtle Matic Auto Feeder
Feed your turtle on a schedule, even when you're not home to do it yourself. The Zoo Med Turtle Matic (TF-10) is a battery-powered automatic feeder that clamps to the tank rim and doses pelleted turtle food up to four times a day. It suits aquatic turtles fed Zoo Med's own pelleted diets, and it's built to keep mains electricity away from the waterline by running on batteries rather than a plug pack.
Key features
- Feeds 1, 2, 3 or 4 times a day – each feed set to run for 3, 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds, so portion size is adjustable independently of feed frequency.
- 12-hour night sleep function – suspends dispensing overnight so food isn't sitting uneaten and fouling the water while no one's watching.
- Screw-on hopper – Zoo Med's Aquatic Turtle Food bottles thread directly onto the feeder top, so refilling is a twist rather than a decant.
- 360° rotating clamp mount – clamps to the tank rim and rotates fully, so the dispensing chute can be aimed over open water rather than substrate or decor.
- Airline port for humidity control – a side port accepts tubing from a separate air pump to help keep the internal mechanism dry.
- Runs on 3 AA batteries (included) – no cord running down into a wet tank.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suited to aquatic turtles kept on a pelleted diet – including red-eared sliders, African side-necks, musk, mud, painted and map turtles, and diamondback terrapins – where unattended, timed feeding is useful for routine days or short absences.
Not suitable for feeding treats, sticks, irregular-shaped pieces or canned food, all of which can jam the dosing mechanism. It also needs a rim or edge the clamp can grip, so it won't suit every enclosure shape.
What's included / not included
The box includes the feeder body with hopper, the tank-rim mounting clamp, and 3 AA batteries.
Not included: Zoo Med's Aquatic Turtle Food (the feeder needs one of Zoo Med's Hatchling, Sinking, Growth or Maintenance formula bottles, which thread onto the hopper), and the separate air pump and airline needed to use the optional humidity-control port.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the hopper out between refills so old pellets don't clump and jam the dosing wheel. Because the unit sits at the humid waterline, check the battery contacts periodically for corrosion, and keep the dispensing chute clear of algae so feeds aren't blocked.
Goes well with
Pairs with Zoo Med's Aquatic Turtle Food range (Hatchling, Sinking, Growth and Maintenance formulas), since these are the only foods designed to run through the hopper without jamming.
Common questions
How many times a day can I set it to feed?
Between 1 and 4 times a day, each within a 12-hour window – the built-in sleep function stops it dispensing overnight.
What food can I use in the Turtle Matic?
Small, medium or large pellets only. Zoo Med's own Aquatic Turtle Food bottles (Hatchling, Sinking, Growth or Maintenance) screw straight onto the feeder as the hopper.
Does it run on mains power?
No – it runs on 3 AA batteries only, which is what keeps electrical components away from a mains cord near the water.
Will it stop feeding overnight?
Yes. A 12-hour sleep function suspends dispensing so food isn't sitting in the tank unseen and unmonitored.
Will it fit any tank?
It needs a rim or edge the clamp can grip and rotates 360° once mounted – check your enclosure has a suitable lip before buying.
