Pulls odour, discolouration and dissolved impurities out of the water column. This is the genuine Fluval activated carbon insert for the AquaClear AC70 and AC110 power filters, sold as a 3-pack. It sits in the chemical filtration stage behind the foam and ahead of the BIOMAX, and the same insert fits both filter sizes.

It does not fit the AC20, AC30 or AC50, which use a smaller carbon insert.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for the AquaClear AC70 and AquaClear AC110, freshwater or marine. Not a substitute for mechanical filtration – carbon does not remove particulate debris, so the foam stage still needs its own replacement schedule.
Care and maintenance
Replace every 4 weeks. Activated carbon has a finite adsorption capacity and, once exhausted, can start releasing what it has trapped back into the water rather than holding it.

No. It's a non-phosphate-raising formula, made for use in marine and reef systems as well as freshwater.

Yes. Carbon is a chemical filtration stage, not a mechanical or biological one – the filter still works without it, just without odour and discolouration control.
