Fluval Spec Aquarium 19ltr White
A complete 19 litre nano aquarium in white, ready to cycle and stock.
The Fluval Spec V 19 L is an all-glass tank with aluminium trim, a hidden 3-stage filter built into a rear chamber, and a 10 W LED bar across the lid. It suits a single betta, a small community of nano fish, dwarf shrimp or a low-tech planted desktop setup. At 19 litres it's compact enough for a shelf or side table but large enough to run a stable nitrogen cycle, unlike smaller bowl-style kits.
Key features
- 10 W, 7000 K LED lighting — 37 LEDs producing 821 lumens, enough for low-tech planted setups; rated for 50,000 hours before replacement is needed.
- Hidden 3-stage filtration — foam block (mechanical), activated carbon (chemical) and Biomax ceramic rings (biological) sit in a rear chamber, out of view.
- Adjustable circulation pump — rated 210–300 L/h, with flow control to suit slow-swimming fish like bettas.
- Etched-glass and aluminium trim — a cleaner look than a standard rimmed tank, and the trim doubles as a lid support.
- Rear equipment chamber has room for a heater — the tank is not heated out of the box, but the compartment behind the filter is sized to take one.

Will it fit my space?
At 49.5 cm wide and 29 cm tall, the Spec V sits comfortably on a standard shelf or a small stand. Filled weight is roughly 26 kg (19 kg of water plus the empty tank), so use furniture rated for at least that. Allow clearance above the tank for the hinged glass lid to open fully, and keep the rear 6–8 cm clear of the wall for the filter chamber and cabling.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for a single betta, a small shoal of nano fish such as chili rasbora or ember tetra, dwarf shrimp, or a low-tech planted layout. Not suitable for goldfish, for fish that need strong steady current, or as a heated tropical setup without adding a separate heater — the kit has no heating element.
Running costs and noise
The LED and pump together draw well under 15 W. Run 8–10 hours of lighting a day and the pump continuously, and annual running cost is a few dollars at typical Australian electricity prices. The pump is designed to run quietly submerged; most owners report it's barely audible once bedded in.
Warranty and delivery
Fluval backs the Spec range with a 2-year limited warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. This is a glass product — freight is via standard parcel courier with fragile handling; check the box on arrival before signing.
Goes well with
- Fluval Spec V 19L replacement pump — worth keeping a spare on hand for a desktop tank that runs 24/7
- Fluval Spec output nozzle — a low-cost spare if the fitted one cracks
- Fluval Spec 19L LED light unit — a spare for the light and transformer
- A compact heater rated for volumes under 20 L, since one isn't included
- A liquid water conditioner, to treat tap water before the first fill
Common questions
Does the Fluval Spec V come with a heater?
No. The rear equipment chamber is sized to fit a small heater, but you'll need to buy one separately if you're keeping tropical fish.
What fish can I keep in 19 litres?
A single betta, a small group of nano species such as ember tetra or chili rasbora, or dwarf shrimp. It's not suitable for larger or fast-growing fish.
Is the pump adjustable?
Yes, flow is adjustable across the 210–300 L/h range, which is useful for slow-swimming or long-finned fish like bettas.
Can I plant this tank?
Yes, for low-light, low-tech plants. The 10 W LED is not high enough output for demanding carpeting or high-light species without supplementary lighting or CO2.
