Red Sea ReefLED 90
Coral-growth spectrum lighting, backed by manufacturer PAR data. The Red Sea ReefLED 90 is a 90 W compact reef LED fixture combining Red Sea's Reef-Spec blue channel with an 8,000K white channel and a moonlight channel, covering a 60 x 60 cm footprint per unit. It was Red Sea's flagship compact reef light ahead of the current ReefLED G2 range and, while superseded, is still fully supported here with genuine electronics, fan, power supply, DC cable and mounting spares.
Key features
- Three-channel LED array – 80 W Reef-Spec blue, 7 W 8,000K white and 3 W moonlight, mixed for a coral-growth spectrum rather than a single colour temperature.
- ReefBeat app control – sunrise/sunset ramping, a 28-day lunar cycle, cloud-cover effects and an acclimation mode that steps intensity up gradually over new installs.
- Runs without a network – operates at its last set programme, or at 100% out of the box, if Wi-Fi isn't available.
- Two mounting paths – rear-wall mounting arms for tanks roughly 46–70 cm wide, or a pendant for longer runs.
- Genuine spares still supplied – top and bottom electronic boards, fan, power supply, DC cable and adapter tray are all separately available, so a legacy unit doesn't need to be replaced outright over one failed part.

These are Red Sea's own published figures for the ReefLED 90. Red Sea has not published a fuller centre/edge gradient at intermediate depths for this now-legacy model – treat the 50 cm figure as a guide for mid-depth SPS placement rather than a substitute for testing your own tank with a PAR meter.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suited to nano and mid-size reef displays around a Reefer-170-class footprint per unit, and to owners of an existing ReefLED 90 installation needing to keep it running. Not the right choice for lighting a large or SPS-dominant display from a single fixture – Red Sea's own sizing guidance calls for multiple units spaced across wider tanks, and for new large-tank builds the current ReefLED G2 115 or 170 carries the manufacturer's active support and warranty parts pipeline.
Running costs
At a typical 8-hour daily photoperiod, 90 W draws around 0.72 kWh a day – approximately 263 kWh a year, or roughly $79 a year at a 30c/kWh tariff. Actual cost depends on your photoperiod, dimming level and electricity rate.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Red Sea's 24-month manufacturer warranty, in addition to your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard parcel delivery.
Common questions
Is the ReefLED 90 still Red Sea's current model?
No – it's been superseded by the ReefLED G2 115. We stock it and its spares for existing owners rather than as a new-build recommendation.
Will it run if my Wi-Fi goes down?
Yes. It continues on its last saved ReefBeat programme, or at full intensity out of the box, without a network connection.
What tank size does one fixture suit?
Around a Reefer-170-class footprint per unit. Wider or deeper tanks need multiple fixtures spaced across the display rather than one unit run harder.
Can I still get spare parts for it?
Yes – top and bottom electronic boards, fan, power supply, DC cable and mounting adapter tray are all genuine Red Sea parts, sold separately.
Does it need a separate power supply?
Yes. The fixture runs on DC power delivered through an external 240 V / 50 Hz power supply and a DC cable, both available as spares if either fails.
