Ziss Artemia Blender
Hatch live brine shrimp at home, on your own schedule. The Ziss Artemia Blender is a small conical hatchery that aerates brine shrimp (artemia) eggs until they hatch, then drains the live nauplii through a needle-shaped bottom valve without damaging the eggshells left behind. It's sold in two sizes — the compact ZH-700 and the larger ZH-2000+ — so you can match the hatchery to how much live food you go through.
Key features
- Clear polycarbonate body — scratch-resistant and lets you see hatching progress at a glance.
- Conical shape — keeps eggs circulating evenly in the airflow rather than settling in corners.
- Needle-shaped bottom valve — drains hatched nauplii without damaging unhatched eggshells still in the container.
- Adjustable mounting bracket — mounts inside or outside the aquarium, or on a rack.
- Lid space for a heater — both sizes leave room in the lid to fit a small aquarium heater, which speeds hatching in a cool room (heater not included).
Which one do I need?
| Model | Capacity | What's different |

| ZH-700 | Compact — manufacturer does not publish a litre figure | The smaller, entry-level hatchery for occasional batches |
| ZH-2000+ | 2 litres | Larger batches, plus an included thermometer with O-ring and a feeding pipette |

What's included / what you'll still need
Included: the hatchery body and lid, mounting bracket, ZAD-10 air diffuser and, on the ZH-2000+, a thermometer with O-ring and a feeding pipette.
You'll still need: an air pump to drive the diffuser, brine shrimp eggs, aquarium salt to mix a hatching brine, and — optionally — a small heater if your fish room runs cool.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for hatching brine shrimp (artemia) eggs to feed fry, small fish and filter-feeding corals.
- Suitable for fresh or marine tank keepers — the hatchery itself always runs on a saltwater brine, regardless of what the shrimp will be fed to.
- Not a substitute for an air pump — one is required and not included.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the body and diffuser between batches to stop salt crusting on the walls, and check the bottom valve seals cleanly — a worn seal will drain water along with the shrimp.
Goes well with
- Ziss Brine Shrimp Collector/Feeder — harvest and rinse the shrimp once they've hatched.
- Ziss BBS Feeding Cup SF-0 — rinse and dispense the smallest nauplii straight into the tank.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law in addition to any manufacturer warranty. Standard parcel delivery — the ZH-2000+ is the larger and heavier of the two.
Common questions
Do I need a separate air pump?
Yes. Both sizes include the ZAD-10 diffuser but rely on your own air pump to drive it.
What's the difference between the ZH-700 and ZH-2000+?
The ZH-2000+ holds 2 litres and adds a thermometer with O-ring and a feeding pipette. The ZH-700 is the smaller, simpler model for occasional hatching.
Does it need a heater?
Not strictly — brine shrimp will hatch at room temperature, just more slowly. Both models leave lid space to fit a small heater if you want faster, more consistent hatching.
Can the hatched shrimp damage the unhatched eggs?
No — the needle-shaped bottom valve is designed to drain live nauplii without disturbing eggshells still settling in the container.
