Ziss Fish & Shrimp Incubator
Keep eggs moving gently and fungus stays away. The Ziss Fish & Shrimp Incubator (Ziss calls this line the Egg Tumbler) holds fish eggs in a slow, continuous current so they never settle and fungus can't get a hold — the same job the parent fish would do in the wild. It's sold in three internal diameters — 55, 65 and 80 mm — so you can match the tumbler to your clutch size.
Key features
- Continuous gentle tumbling — an airlift current keeps eggs in constant slow motion, reducing fungus and improving hatch rates versus a still container.
- Disassemblable air stone — the diffuser comes apart for cleaning rather than clogging permanently.
- Suction cup mounting — two or four cups, depending on size, hold the tumbler against the glass.
- Three sizes — 55, 65 and 80 mm internal diameter to suit different clutch sizes.
Which size do I need?
| Variant | Internal diameter | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| ZET55 | 55 mm | Smaller clutches — most cichlid and corydoras egg batches |
| ZET65 | 65 mm | Medium clutches, or where you want more circulation room per egg |
| ZET80 | 80 mm | Larger clutches from bigger cichlids and discus |
Ziss also makes the ZET-E55, a low-profile version with the same 55 mm diameter but roughly half the height, for tight spaces.

What's included / what you'll still need
Included: the tumbler body, suction cup mounts, Ziss air regulator, air hose and a disassemblable Ziss air stone.
You'll still need: an air pump to drive the airlift current.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for tumbling the eggs of cichlids, plecos, discus, angelfish, corydoras and similar species that lay eggs in a clutch.
- Suitable for freshwater breeding setups.
- Not suitable without an air pump — the tumbling action depends entirely on airflow.
Care and maintenance
Pull the air stone apart and rinse it between batches so it doesn't clog and starve the current. Rinse the tumbler body too, especially after a batch that fungused, before the next clutch goes in.
Goes well with
- Ziss Fish & Shrimp Incubator ZET-E55 — the low-profile 55 mm option if height is tight.
- Ziss Brine Shrimp Collector/Feeder — for rinsing and feeding live food to fry once they hatch.
- Ziss Artemia Blender — hatch your own brine shrimp to feed the fry.

Common questions
Which size tumbler do I need?
Match the diameter to your clutch size — 55 mm suits most cichlid and corydoras batches, 65 mm gives medium clutches more room, and 80 mm suits larger discus and cichlid spawns.
Do I need an air pump?
Yes. The tumbling action is driven entirely by airflow from a separate air pump — one isn't included.
Will this work for shrimp eggs?
Ziss doesn't publish shrimp among the species this tumbler is designed for — it's built and tested around fish eggs such as cichlids, plecos, discus, angelfish and corydoras.
What's the difference between this and the ZET-E55?
The ZET-E55 shares the same 55 mm internal diameter as the ZET55 but is roughly half the height, for setups with limited vertical space.
