Bioscape Tropic Magnet Cleaner
Wipe algae off the glass without ever wetting your hands. The Bioscape Tropic Magnet Cleaner pairs an outer handle with an inner scraper, held together through the glass by strong magnets, so you glide algae off the inside of the tank from the outside. It's sold in three sizes — Small, Medium and Large — scaled to different tank sizes, and is safe for both freshwater and marine aquariums.
Key features
- Magnetic pair — an outer handle and inner scraper stay locked together through the glass, so cleaning never means putting a hand in the water.
- Non-abrasive pad — designed not to scratch the glass surface with normal use.
- Three sizes — Small, Medium and Large, so you can match the cleaner to your tank rather than fight an undersized or oversized pad.
- One-handed operation — glide the outer handle around the glass and the inner scraper follows.

Which size do I need?
As a rule with magnetic cleaners, the larger sizes carry stronger magnets built to grip and clean through thicker glass. Bioscape hasn't published a maximum glass thickness for each size of this particular model, so match the size to your tank's overall footprint as a starting point — Small for nano and small tanks, Medium for typical community tanks, Large for bigger or thicker-glassed display tanks — and get in touch with us with your glass thickness before ordering if you want it confirmed.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for freshwater and marine glass aquariums. Not confirmed suitable for acrylic tanks by Bioscape for this model — if your tank is acrylic, ask us before buying, since the wrong pad can mark acrylic that a glass-safe pad won't mark.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the pad before first use. Lift the cleaner away from the substrate rather than dragging it along the bottom, so you don't trap a piece of gravel between the pad and the glass — a trapped piece is the most common cause of a scratch.
Goes well with
A water conditioner for your next water change, a soft algae pad for curved glass your magnet cleaner can't reach, and a gravel siphon for the substrate the magnet doesn't touch.
Warranty and delivery
Covered against manufacturing defects under Bioscape's warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Common questions
Will it scratch my glass?
The pad is designed not to, but keep it free of trapped gravel or grit, which is the usual cause of a scratch with any magnet cleaner.
Can I use it on an acrylic tank?
Bioscape doesn't confirm acrylic compatibility for this model. Ask us before using it on acrylic — an unsuitable pad can mark acrylic more easily than glass.
Which size fits my tank?
Match the size to your tank — Small for nano and small tanks, Medium for typical community tanks, Large for bigger or thicker-glassed displays — or ask us to confirm against your glass thickness.
Do I need to get my hands wet to use it?
No — that's the point of a magnetic cleaner. The outer handle stays dry while the inner scraper does the work against the glass.
