Exo Terra Glass Terrarium Frog 45 x 45 x 60cm

Built for animals that climb, not just walk. The Exo Terra Glass Terrarium Frog (45 x 45 x 60 cm, model PT2746) gives climbing amphibians the vertical space they actually use, paired with a waterproof base and a built-in drain for the humid, heavily misted setups frogs need.

Key features
  • 45 x 45 x 60 cm, tall format — vertical space for climbing tree frogs, not a footprint built for ground dwellers.
  • Single front-opening door with push-button lock — low-stress access; an additional lock is available separately.
  • Built-in drain with 1.2 m tubing, elbow connector and tap valve included — drain a misted or planted setup without tipping the tank.
  • Waterproof, raised base — handles regular misting, a drainage layer and standing water without leaking.
  • Hinged, lockable top with a stainless steel ventilation strip — screen mesh sized to pass UV and infrared light through to the animal.
  • Patented dual ventilation with a rear mesh strip and four self-closing cable/tubing inlets — reduces condensation while still sealing gaps against escape.
  • Monsoon nozzle mounting points built into the lid — ready for an automated misting system if you add one later.
  • 10 cm deep front glass panel — extra depth at the front for substrate and hardscape.

Will it fit my enclosure?

60 cm of external height is built for frogs that use the whole vertical space — vines, cork bark and dense planting up to the lid, not just the floor. The hinged mesh lid sits above this height, so heat or UVB fixtures mount externally rather than reducing the internal climbing space.

What's included / what you'll still need

Included: the glass terrarium, the drain kit (1.2 m tubing, elbow connector, tap valve) and the hinged mesh lid with monsoon nozzle mounting points.

Not included: substrate, background, planting, a misting pump or timer, heating, lighting and thermostat. This is a base enclosure, not a complete kit.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suited to climbing frogs and similar amphibians that need height, humidity and drainage — tree frogs and comparable climbing species. Not suited to burrowing or fully aquatic amphibians, which need a different setup, or to reptiles needing a strong dry basking gradient, since this enclosure is built around humidity rather than a dry heat zone.

Care and maintenance

Use the drain regularly on heavily misted setups to stop water pooling in the substrate. Clean glass with an amphibian-safe cleaner — avoid anything with ammonia or strong fragrance.

Safety

Amphibians absorb chemicals through their skin far more readily than reptiles do, so never use household glass cleaners on this tank. Any heater used must be kept clear of standing water and controlled by its own thermostat — letting the enclosure run too dry for the species is as much a welfare risk as running it too hot.

Goes well with
  • A misting system compatible with the lid's monsoon nozzle mounts.
  • Amphibian-safe background, climbing branches and vines.
  • A low-wattage UVB source suited to amphibians, run on a timer rather than continuously.
Warranty and delivery

Covered by your rights under Australian Consumer Law. As a large glass item, check carefully for transit damage before use.

Common questions

Do I need to connect the drain, or can I leave it capped?

You can leave it capped for a lightly misted setup, but if you're running regular heavy misting or a water feature, connecting the supplied tubing and tap valve makes clearing excess water far easier than lifting substrate out by hand.

Will household glass cleaner harm the frogs?

Yes — amphibians absorb chemicals through their skin, so ammonia-based or strongly fragranced cleaners left on the glass are a real risk. Use an amphibian-safe cleaner and rinse thoroughly.

Can I keep more than one frog in this size?

It depends entirely on the species and its adult size — check the specific species' space requirements per animal rather than assuming this tank suits a group by default.

Does the mesh lid reduce UVB reaching the animal?

Any mesh causes some UV attenuation. If you're running a UVB lamp on this enclosure, check that lamp's own distance chart for figures measured through mesh where the manufacturer publishes one, and use a low-strength UVB source suited to amphibians rather than a reptile-strength lamp.
