Sized for the Exo Terra Medium Wide Terrarium (60 × 45 × 45 cm), whose rear glass is 60 cm wide by 45 cm high. Looking at the Medium Tall (60 × 45 × 60 cm) instead? That needs the taller PT2961 panel from the table below, not this one.

All five Exo Terra Rock Backgrounds are cut to match a specific Exo Terra Natural Terrarium. Measure your terrarium's rear glass panel – width × height – and match it against the model below.

Backgrounds can be trimmed down with scissors or a craft knife for a smaller footprint, but they can't be stretched to cover a larger one – when in doubt, size up rather than down.

One 60 × 45 cm rock-effect background panel. Silicone sealant to mount it, and the terrarium itself, are sold separately.

• Suitable for terrestrial and ground-dwelling reptiles and amphibians that benefit from a longer floor run, and both tropical and desert terrarium styles.
• Not suitable for permanent submersion – this is a terrarium backdrop, not a rated aquatic or paludarium liner, and it hasn't been tested below the waterline.

Wipe down with a damp cloth. Avoid solvents or abrasive cleaners, which can degrade the polystyrene coating. On a wide panel, run a hand along the full lower edge after fitting to make sure the silicone has bonded evenly corner to corner.

The panel is non-toxic and safe for contact with reptiles and amphibians. Keep heat sources such as ceramic heat emitters and heat mats at the manufacturer's recommended clearance from the panel – polystyrene is heat-sensitive and can warp or scorch if a fixture is mounted too close.

Is this the same panel as the Medium Tall background?

No – the Medium Tall uses the taller 60 × 60 cm PT2961 panel. This PT2960 panel is 15 cm shorter, matched to the Medium Wide's lower rear glass. Check the size table above before ordering.

Can I mount it horizontally to cover a wider custom enclosure?

The ridge pattern runs in a fixed orientation from the factory, so we wouldn't recommend rotating it 90 degrees – the rock texture will read as sideways. For a genuinely custom footprint, trimming a panel to size in its intended orientation gives a better result.

What do I use to stick it to the glass?

A 100% aquarium-safe silicone sealant, applied in a bead pattern to the back of the panel before pressing it into place. Silicone isn't included with the background.

Will it change the humidity in my terrarium?

Not on its own. It adds a small amount of insulation to the rear glass but doesn't replace your normal misting, ventilation or humidity gradient setup.
