Exo Terra Medium Wide Terrarium 60 x 45 x 45cm
A wide-format glass terrarium built for reptiles that live on the ground more than in the air. The Exo Terra Medium Wide Terrarium (60 × 45 × 45 cm, model PT2610) is an all-glass, front-opening enclosure with a low, wide footprint that favours floor space over height — suited to leopard geckos, blue-tongue skinks, juvenile bearded dragons and other ground-dwelling species that need room to move rather than climb.
Key features
- Dual front-opening doors — access the enclosure at ground level without reaching over the animal from above, which is less startling for skittish or defensive species.
- Full stainless steel mesh top — removable, and open enough that UVB and heat lamps mounted above work through it at close to full strength rather than being filtered by glass or fine flyscreen.
- Waterproof, raised base — the bottom plate sits proud of the frame, so it tolerates a substrate heat mat underneath and copes with bioactive drainage layers without leaking onto furniture.
- Five closable cable and tubing inlets on both side panels — run probe wires, misting lines or fogger tubing in without leaving a permanent gap an animal, or an escaping insect, can use.
- Cuttable rock-effect background panel included — fits the rear pane and can be trimmed for wiring and plumbing.

Exo Terra doesn't publish an empty weight or glass thickness for this model. As a guide, plan for two people to lift and position a terrarium of this size once it's on its final stand — the glass panels are substantial even before substrate and decor go in.
Will it fit my enclosure setup?
At 45 cm high, this terrarium suits lamps and thermostats rated for close-mounting rather than tall canopy fixtures. Exo Terra doesn't publish a specific minimum lamp-mounting clearance for this model — check your heat or UVB lamp's own distance chart against the internal height once substrate and any raised decor are in place, and mount accordingly.
What's included / what you'll still need
Included: the glass enclosure, mesh top, waterproof base and the cuttable background panel.
Not included: substrate, hides, heating and lighting, a thermostat, and decor. This is the enclosure only, not a complete kit.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suited to ground-dwelling and semi-terrestrial reptiles and amphibians that need floor space more than height — leopard geckos, blue-tongue skinks, juvenile bearded dragons, and similar. Not the best choice for strongly arboreal species such as chameleons, where a taller enclosure gives better climbing height.
Care and maintenance
Wipe glass with a reptile-safe cleaner rather than household glass cleaner, which can leave residue that's harmful to reptiles and amphibians. Check the door tracks and mesh top periodically for substrate build-up so both continue to seal and lock properly.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by the manufacturer's standard warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. As a large glass item this ships via oversized/fragile freight — contact us before ordering if you need a delivery timeframe for a specific postcode.
Goes well with
A substrate suited to your species, a raised background or hide, and — sold separately — heating and UVB lighting sized to a 45 cm-high enclosure.
Common questions
Does this terrarium come with lighting or heating?
No. It's sold as the enclosure only. Heat lamps, UVB lighting, thermostats and substrate are all sold separately so you can match them to your species.
Can I run a substrate heat mat under it?
Yes — the raised waterproof base is designed to sit above a substrate heat mat without direct water contact, provided the mat is thermostat-controlled.
Will UVB lighting work through the mesh top?
Yes. The full mesh top is designed to let UVB and heat through at close to full strength, unlike a glass or fine-flyscreen lid, which is why Exo Terra terrariums are commonly paired with overhead UVB and heat fixtures.
How do I run wires or a misting line into the enclosure?
Use the five closable cable/tubing inlets on the side panels rather than propping the mesh top open, which compromises security.
