Fluval 07 Basket Cover 307/407
The lid that forces water through your media instead of past it.
This is the genuine Fluval media basket cover, part A20067, for the 307 and 407 canister filters. On the large-bodied canisters it works harder than on the small ones: more media, more flow, and more room for water to cheat around the stack. Fluval also lists A20067 against the 305/405 and 306/406.
Key features
- Genuine Fluval A20067 — the large-body cover, moulded to the 307 and 407 basket footprint.
- Matters most at high flow — the 407 moves 1,450 L/h at the pump. That much water finds any gap around a media basket, and the cover is what closes it.
- Pins loose media — bio rings and polishing pads tumble at 307 and 407 flow rates unless something holds the top of the stack down.
- Covers three generations — 305/405, 306/406 and 307/407 all use this one part.

Will it fit my filter?
Fluval splits basket covers by canister body size, not by series. The 307 and 407 share their body with the 305/405 and 306/406, and all six take this cover.
| Filter model | Series | Takes A20067 |
|---|---|---|
| 305 | 05 | Yes |
| 405 | 05 | Yes |
| 306 | 06 | Yes |
| 406 | 06 | Yes |
| 307 | 07 | Yes |
| 407 | 07 | Yes |
It does not fit the Fluval 105, 205, 106, 206, 107 or 207. Those are the small-body canisters and take part A20042 — the basket cover for the 107 and 207.
Which basket cover do I need?
| Cover | Part number | Fits |
|---|---|---|
| Small-body cover | A20042 | 105/205, 106/206, 107/207 |
| Large-body cover | A20067 | 305/405, 306/406, 307/407 |
Which filter is which?
The two 07 canisters this cover suits are the high-flow end of the range, which is why bypass costs more here.
| Model | Aquarium capacity | Pump output | Filter circulation | Max head | Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 307 | 90–330 L | 1,150 L/h | 780 L/h | 1.75 m | 15 W |
| 407 | 150–500 L | 1,450 L/h | 930 L/h | 2.25 m | 20 W |
Power figures are for 230–240 V, 50 Hz, the Australian specification. Pump output is measured on an empty canister; filter circulation is the loaded figure, and the gap between the two columns is the media doing its job.
What's included
- 1 x media basket cover
Not included
- The media basket. This part is the lid over the stack, not the tray that holds media.
- Filter media. Foams, bio media and polishing pads are separate.
- The canister body — see the filter canister case for the 407.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for a 307 or 407 whose cover has cracked, warped or gone missing in a service; restoring a used 305, 405, 306 or 406 to a full media stack; and marine systems, where bypass shows up quickly as poor clarity.
Not suitable for the 105, 205, 106, 206, 107 or 207, or for FX2, FX4 and FX6 canisters. It will not cure low flow that is really a clogged foam or a blocked intake strainer.
Care and maintenance
Take the cover out at every media service and rinse it in tank water. Blocked slots choke the top of the stack and push flow around the basket — the same symptom as running with no cover at all. Check the rim for stress whitening; on the larger canisters the cover carries more force from the motor head, so a crazed cover is worth replacing before it splits mid-service.
Goes well with
- Ceramic impeller shaft and bushing — the wear part behind most canister noise
- Impeller cover for the 307 and 407 — replaces a cracked or unclipping impeller well cover
- 14 mm ribbed hosing — the correct hose size for the large-body canisters
Warranty and delivery
Supplied as a genuine Fluval replacement part. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full and nothing here limits them. No separate manufacturer warranty term is quoted on moulded service parts. Ships as a standard small parcel anywhere in Australia.
Common questions
Does the Fluval A20067 basket cover fit a 107 or a 207?
No. Those are the small-body canisters and they take A20042. A20067 fits the 305/405, 306/406 and 307/407 only.
Is the cover for the 307 the same as the cover for the 407?
Yes. Fluval supplies one cover, A20067, for both, and for the 305/405 and 306/406 before them.
What actually goes wrong if I run a 407 without the cover?
Water takes the path of least resistance around the media basket rather than through it, so mechanical and biological filtration both drop off. Lightweight bio media can also lift into the impeller well and rattle.
Will my old 406 cover fit the 407 that replaced it?
Yes. The 306/406 and 307/407 use the same cover, so a sound cover carries straight over.
Does the cover affect flow rate?
Fitted correctly and kept clear, not meaningfully. Left clogged with sludge, yes — the slots are the only path through, so blocked slots restrict the whole filter.
