Zoo Med Betta Plant Maple Leaf
A moulded plastic maple leaf that gives bettas a resting spot. The Zoo Med Betta Plant Maple Leaf (BP-24) is a naturalistic plastic plant made for betta bowls and nano tanks. It attaches to the glass with a built-in suction cup, sits low in the water column, and needs no substrate, lighting or dosing to stay looking green.
Key features
- Suction-cup mount - sticks directly to the glass, so it works in a bare bowl with no gravel to anchor into.
- Colourfast plastic - moulded green plastic that stays green, unlike a live plant that can yellow or die back.
- No upkeep - no dosing, trimming or CO2, just an occasional rinse.
- Bowl-scale footprint - sized for bowls and nano tanks rather than a full aquascape centrepiece.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for betta bowls, nano tanks and community tanks that want a low-maintenance accent plant alongside live or other plastic planting. Not a substitute for a live, oxygenating plant, and not intended as a filter media anchor or for tanks with fish known to chew rigid plastic decor.
Care and maintenance
Rinse under lukewarm water when algae or biofilm builds up on the leaf surface. Zoo Med does not publish a fin-safety rating for this range. It is rigid moulded plastic rather than soft silk, so owners of long-finned betta varieties should run a fingertip check over the leaf edges before adding it to the tank, the same check worth doing with any hard plastic decor.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Zoo Med's standard warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a standard parcel; no cold chain or special handling needed.
Common questions
Will the colour fade over time?
No. It is moulded coloured plastic rather than a live plant, so it stays green under normal aquarium lighting rather than yellowing or dying back.
Does it need substrate to stay in place?
No. The built-in suction cup anchors to glass, so it works in a bare bowl with no gravel.
Can I use it in a planted tank with CO2 and dosing?
Yes. It is inert plastic and does not interact with CO2, fertiliser dosing or medication.
Is it safe for long-finned betta varieties?
Zoo Med does not publish a fin-safety rating for this item. Check the moulded leaf edges by hand before adding it to a tank with a long-finned betta.
