The warm-toned sand for a natural tropical-beach look. Zoo Med Hermit Crab Sand in Yellow is the same calcium carbonate substrate as our Green listing, in a warmer tone that suits a beach- or jungle-themed crabitat. It gives hermit crabs a natural surface to dig, forage and bury themselves in when moulting, and Zoo Med states it also provides a source of dietary calcium.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable as a digging and moulting substrate for land hermit crabs, and as a warm-toned alternative where you don't want an obviously dyed-looking sand. Not a humidity source on its own — keep it lightly damp and deep enough for your largest crab to bury completely.
Care and maintenance
Keep it at sandcastle consistency — damp enough to hold a shape, never wet — and maintain full-burial depth for the largest crab. Spot-clean waste regularly and watch for mould in a warm, humid enclosure.
