This is a mains-powered appliance intended for use with the pump fully submerged — don't run it dry, and don't position the power cord where it can trail through standing water outside the unit. Use on a circuit protected by a residual current device (safety switch), standard practice for any submersible aquarium or terrarium pump in Australia.

Clean the pump impeller and the pebble channels regularly — mineral deposits and algae build up fast in a warm, humid terrarium, and a partially blocked channel is the most common reason these units stop flowing. Top up or fully replace the water often; standing water in a reptile enclosure needs the same attention as a water bowl.

Pair with a reptile-safe water conditioner for the water you fill it with, and a drainage layer or false bottom if your terrarium doesn't already handle overflow from splashing.
