A seaweed-and-spirulina wafer built for marine grazers that browse rather than gulp. Hikari Seaweed Extreme Medium Wafer is a slow-sinking wafer formulated around dried seaweed meal for marine herbivores such as tangs, and works as a supplementary feed for omnivorous reef fish like clownfish, damsels and butterflyfish.

Feeding directions
Feed an amount your fish finish within about a minute, two to three times a day. The wafer absorbs water quickly and starts to soften almost immediately, so start with a smaller piece than you think you need until you know how fast your fish clear it. Remove anything left after a few minutes to keep water quality up.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: marine herbivorous grazers, particularly tangs, and as a supplementary feed for omnivorous reef fish such as clownfish, damsels and butterflyfish.
Not suitable for: use as a sole diet for strict carnivores. Hikari formulates and markets Seaweed Extreme specifically for the marine trade, not as a dedicated freshwater diet.
Common questions
Will my tang eat the whole wafer in one sitting?
Usually not, and it isn't meant to. The wafer softens and breaks down as your fish graze on it over several minutes, closer to how a tang grazes algae in the wild than a single mouthful of pellet.
Can I feed this to freshwater fish?
Hikari formulates and markets Seaweed Extreme as a marine diet. If you keep freshwater algae grazers, Hikari's freshwater-labelled wafer and pellet ranges are the better match.
Why does the colour vary a little between bags?
The recipe leans on natural seaweed and marine ingredients, and their colour varies by harvest. Hikari states this doesn't affect the nutritional guarantee.
