ReefSense Temperature Probe

$125.00
Sale price  $125.00 Regular price

The one ReefSense probe that never needs calibrating. The Red Sea ReefSense Temperature Probe plugs into any port on a ReefControl Lite or Pro and gives a continuous, ±0.1°C-accurate temperature reading in the ReefBeat app, with an alert the moment it drifts. Because temperature does not need a reference solution to check against, this is the only probe in the ReefSense range with zero routine maintenance.

It is sold on its own for anyone adding a second temperature point — a sump alongside a display, for example — or replacing a probe that has failed or been damaged.

Key features
  • ±0.1°C accuracy — fine enough to catch a heater sticking on or a chiller dropping out before it becomes a problem.
  • Titanium tip — corrosion-resistant in saltwater, and fully digital inside the probe body so the signal resists electromagnetic noise from nearby pumps and lights.
  • Never needs calibrating — the only probe in the ReefSense range with no reference-solution routine.
  • Moves between controllers — plugs into any port on a ReefControl Lite or Pro, not a dedicated slot.
  • Drives automation, not just a readout — paired with ReefControl Power, it can shut off a heater or chiller automatically if the reading runs away.
What's included

One ReefSense Temperature Probe with cable. A ReefControl Lite or Pro controller and a probe holder are required and sold separately if you do not already own them.

Will it fit my system?

It plugs into any port on a Red Sea ReefControl Lite or ReefControl Pro, including a port added by the ReefSense 4-Port Expander on a Pro. Away from a controller, it can also run on Bluetooth through the ReefBeat app using the ReefSense USB Power Connector for power — useful for a spot check, though Red Sea does not log readings taken that way.

Which ReefSense probe do I need?
Probe Measures Calibration
Temperature Temperature only Not required
pH & Temperature pH and temperature Required for pH
Salinity & Temperature Salinity and temperature Required for salinity
ORP Redox potential Required

If temperature is the only parameter you want on a second port — a sump or a quarantine tank, say — the standalone Temperature probe is the cheapest and lowest-maintenance way to add it.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for: ReefControl Lite or Pro owners adding a second temperature point, running redundant monitoring on a display tank, or replacing a faulty probe.

Not suitable for: pH, salinity or ORP monitoring — it reads temperature only. It also cannot run automation on its own; heater or chiller shutoff needs it paired with ReefControl Power.

Warranty and delivery

Common questions

How accurate is the ReefSense Temperature Probe?

Red Sea rates it to ±0.1°C, with a titanium tip suited to saltwater and a fully digital design inside the probe body to resist electrical interference from nearby pumps and lights.

Do I need to calibrate it?

No. It is the only probe in the ReefSense range that needs no calibration routine — temperature does not require a reference solution the way pH, salinity or ORP do.

Can I use it without a ReefControl controller?

Yes, with the ReefSense USB Power Connector for power and Bluetooth through the ReefBeat app for a spot reading. Red Sea does not log or alert on readings taken this way — for continuous monitoring it needs to be plugged into a ReefControl Lite or Pro.

Will it shut off my heater automatically?

Only when paired with ReefControl Power. On its own the probe reads and alerts through the ReefBeat app; automated switching needs the Power unit in the loop.

Does it work in a freshwater tank?

Red Sea markets the ReefControl/ReefSense system for marine and reef aquariums specifically. A freshwater compatibility statement was not found, so it is not claimed here.
