ReefSense USB Power Connector
Power for a ReefSense probe with no controller involved. The Red Sea ReefSense USB Power Connector runs a ReefSense probe from USB power on its own, so it can report over Bluetooth through the ReefBeat app without being plugged into a ReefControl Lite or Pro. It is the accessory Red Sea specifies for using a ReefSense probe remotely – away from a controller, or before you own one at all.
It is a power lead, not a controller substitute: readings taken this way display live in the app, but Red Sea does not log or trend them the way a controller-connected probe is.
Key features
- Frees a probe from the controller – power it from any USB source and read it over Bluetooth instead of a ReefControl port.
- Genuine Red Sea accessory – the connector Red Sea specifies for standalone ReefSense probe use.
- Works with every ReefSense probe – pH & Temperature, Salinity & Temperature, ORP and Temperature all use the same USB power path.
- Handy before you own a controller – check a probe or take a one-off reading without buying a ReefControl Lite or Pro first.
What's included
One ReefSense USB Power Connector. The probe itself and a USB power source are sold separately.

Will it fit my system?
It works with any ReefSense probe – pH & Temperature, Salinity & Temperature, ORP or Temperature – regardless of whether you own a ReefControl Lite, Pro or no controller at all. It is not required for normal use: a probe plugged into a ReefControl controller is already powered through that port. This connector is only needed when you want a probe running independently of a controller.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: spot-checking a ReefSense probe before buying a controller, running a probe remotely (a quarantine tank or frag system, for example), or powering a probe for Bluetooth-only use.
Not suitable for: continuous logged monitoring or automation – a probe run this way is not connected to a ReefControl Lite or Pro, so it will not trend data over time or trigger ReefControl Power switching. For that, plug the probe into a controller instead.
Goes well with
- Red Sea ReefSense Temperature Probe
- Red Sea ReefSense pH & Temperature Probe
- Red Sea ReefControl Lite – for continuous, logged monitoring instead of standalone use.
- Red Sea ReefSense Single Probe Holder – mounts the probe once it is powered.

Common questions
Do I need this to use a ReefSense probe?
No, not if the probe is plugged into a ReefControl Lite or Pro – the controller powers it through the port. This connector is only for running a probe away from a controller.
Does a probe powered this way still log to the ReefBeat app?
It displays a live reading, but Red Sea does not log or trend it the way a controller-connected probe is, so this mode suits a quick check rather than ongoing monitoring.
Which probes does it work with?
Any ReefSense digital probe – pH & Temperature, Salinity & Temperature, ORP or standalone Temperature.
Can I use it to try a probe before buying a controller?
Yes – this is one of the situations Red Sea specifies it for, powering the probe over USB so it reports over Bluetooth through the ReefBeat app without a controller in the loop.
