Zoo Med Hermit Crab Neon Ramp Bowl
A crab bowl your hermit crabs can actually climb back out of. The Zoo Med Hermit Crab Neon Ramp Bowl is a small moulded dish with a gentle built-in ramp, so hermit crabs can walk down to food or water and climb straight back out rather than getting stranded at the bottom of a straight-sided dish. It suits a single water or food station in a hermit crab habitat, and the bright neon finish makes it easy to spot among substrate and decor.
Key features
- Moulded ramp — gives crabs safe, gradual access in and out, instead of a vertical wall they can fall into and struggle to climb.
- Deep end — holds enough water or food for a small hermit crab colony between refills.
- Bright neon finish — easy to see in a planted or bark-covered enclosure, and simple to spot-check for cleanliness.
- Smooth, easy-clean surface — wipes out quickly during routine water and food changes.
- One size, several roles — use as a fresh water dish, a salt water dish, or a food bowl; keep a separate bowl for each rather than swapping one dish between purposes.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable as a water dish (fresh or salt) or a food dish for land hermit crabs, and for other small terrarium animals that need a shallow, easy-access water or food station. Not a bathing pool for larger hermit crabs or for species that need to fully submerge — the dish is shallow by design, so a crab that needs to soak its shell may still need a deeper dish alongside it.
Care and maintenance
Rinse and refill daily. Because land hermit crabs need constant access to both fresh and salt water, run two of these side by side — one for fresh water treated with a dechlorinator, one for salt water made with a hermit crab-specific salt water conditioner — rather than switching a single bowl between the two.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by the standard Zoo Med manufacturer warranty against defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard parcel delivery.
Common questions
Can I use this bowl for both fresh and salt water?
Not at the same time. Salt residue left in a bowl that's then filled with fresh water — or vice versa — throws off the balance your crabs rely on. Keep a dedicated bowl for each.
Will my hermit crab climb out on its own?
That's the point of the ramp — a straight-sided dish can strand a crab at the bottom, especially smaller ones. The sloped side lets crabs walk in and out without help.
How often should I clean it?
Rinse it out and replace the water daily; hermit crab water dishes foul quickly with substrate and food debris.
Is one bowl enough for a colony?
For more than a couple of crabs, most keepers run two or more stations of each type so crabs aren't queuing for, or fouling, a single dish.
