Bioscape All in One Pond Filter UVC Globe 8w

A UV-C lamp that's still glowing can already have stopped clarifying the water.

This is the genuine 8 W UV-C replacement globe and quartz sleeve for the Bioscape All in One Submersible Pond Filter with UV (BIS671). It fits the BIS671 only — the standard BIS670 has no UV lamp fitted and cannot use this part. Bioscape specifies replacing the lamp every 12 months, on the calendar rather than when it visibly fails.

Key features
  • Genuine fit for BIS671 only — the 5-in-1 model with the built-in UV-C clarifier. The standard BIS670 has no UV lamp and cannot take this part.
  • 8 W UV-C output — matches the lamp originally fitted to the BIS671.
  • Quartz sleeve included — replace both together, since a scaled or cracked sleeve blocks UV output before it reaches the water.
  • 12-month replacement interval — UV-C output falls away over about a year of continuous use, well before the lamp stops glowing.

Will it fit my filter?

This globe fits the BIS671 only. If your unit is a standard BIS670 with no UV-C clarifier, this part has nothing to fit — check the model code on the housing, or see the product page for the BIS671 for the "which model do I need" comparison if you are not sure which one you own.

Why replace it every 12 months

UV-C output falls away steadily over roughly a year of continuous running, long before the lamp stops glowing — a lit lamp is not evidence that it is still clarifying. Running an exhausted lamp past its interval means the unit looks like it is working while the algae it is meant to clump keeps passing straight through. Mark the fitting date somewhere you will see it, and replace on that schedule rather than waiting for green water to reappear.

Safety
  • Never look directly at a lit UV-C lamp outside its housing. UV-C radiation damages eyes and skin. Only ever run the lamp assembled inside the sealed unit.
  • Switch off and unplug the transformer before opening the housing to change the globe.
  • Handle the glass globe by its base. Skin oils on the quartz sleeve reduce UV transmission — wipe the sleeve with a clean, dry cloth before reassembly.
  • Check the sleeve for cracks before fitting the new globe. A cracked sleeve lets pond water reach the lamp and will cause it to fail.
Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for:

  • Scheduled 12-month replacement of the UV-C lamp and quartz sleeve on a BIS671
  • Restoring clarifying power after green water has reappeared despite clean sponges

Not suitable for:

  • The BIS670, which has no UV-C lamp fitted
  • Treating fish disease or parasites — this is a clarifier-strength lamp; Bioscape does not publish a UV dose figure for this unit and it is not rated as a steriliser
  • Clearing string algae or blanketweed growing on rocks and liner, which never passes the lamp

Common questions

Does this globe fit the standard Bioscape All in One filter without UV?

No. The BIS670 has no UV-C lamp or quartz sleeve fitted, so there is nothing for this part to replace. It fits the BIS671 only.

How do I know the lamp needs replacing if it's still lit?

You can't tell by looking at it. UV-C output drops off well before the lamp visibly dims, so replace it on the 12-month schedule rather than waiting for signs of failure or for green water to come back.

Does the quartz sleeve need replacing every time too?

This pack includes a sleeve with every globe, and it is worth fitting both together — a scaled or hairline-cracked sleeve blocks UV output even with a brand new lamp inside it.

Is it safe to check whether the lamp is lit?

Only by observing it fully assembled inside the housing. Never remove the lamp and run it outside its housing to check — direct UV-C exposure damages eyes and skin.

Will this UV-C globe treat whitespot or other fish parasites?

No. This is a clarifier-strength lamp intended to clump free-floating algae so the filter sponges can trap it. Bioscape does not publish a UV dose for this unit, and parasite control requires a substantially higher, sustained dose than a clarifier delivers. Do not rely on it for disease control.
