Aqua Medic mV Probe (ORP) L120mm - Plastic Standard

Redox monitoring that plugs straight into your existing controller. The Aqua Medic mV Probe (ORP) L120mm is a 120 mm plastic-bodied redox electrode for reef and marine aquariums, reading millivolt (mV) potential for ozone dosing, UV sterilisation checks and general water-quality trending. It connects to any Aqua Medic measuring unit and to third-party monitors and controllers fitted with a standard BNC probe input, making it the everyday choice for a single-controller, single-tank setup.

Key features
  • Standard BNC connection – drops into any Aqua Medic mV monitor or controller, and into third-party gear with a BNC input, so you are not locked to one brand of controller.
  • 120 mm plastic body – resists salt creep and the odd knock a sump-mounted probe takes, without the fragility of a glass tip.
  • Shallow immersion design – only needs a few centimetres in the water column, so it mounts in tight sump baffles or dosing chambers.
  • Reads what your ozone or UV gear is actually changing – redox potential, rather than inferring water quality from dose alone.
  • Consumable electrode, 6-month warranty – Aqua Medic classes pH and mV electrodes as wear items, so the warranty term reflects normal ageing rather than a manufacturing fault.

Which mV probe do I need?

Aqua Medic sells this electrode in three formats. All three read the same redox signal – the difference is body material and fitting.

Model Body Length Best suited to
L120mm Plastic Standard (this page) Plastic 120 mm Everyday reef and marine monitoring, general controller pairing
L120mm Glass Laboratory Standard Glass 120 mm (160 mm overall) Laboratory-grade response for demanding dosing or ozone-control setups
L70mm Plastic PG13.5 Threaded Plastic 70 mm Compact in-line mounting through a PG13.5 fitting where panel or sump clearance is tight
Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for reef and marine aquariums running, or considering, ozone or UV-based redox control, and for hobbyists who already run an Aqua Medic or BNC-compatible monitor.

Not the best fit where you need laboratory-grade accuracy or long service life under heavy use – the glass-bodied L120mm probe above is the stronger choice there.

Warranty and delivery

Electrodes carry a 6-month Aqua Medic warranty as a wear item, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard delivery applies.

Common questions

Does this probe work with controllers other than Aqua Medic's own units?

Yes. It uses a standard BNC connector, so it works with most third-party ORP monitors and controllers as well as the full Aqua Medic range.

How far into the water does the probe need to sit?

Only a few centimetres. It is designed to read from a shallow immersion rather than being fully submerged.

Why is the warranty only six months?

Aqua Medic classes pH and mV electrodes as consumables – the glass membrane and reference junction age with use, so the warranty reflects normal wear rather than a fault.

Should I choose the plastic or glass version?

The plastic L120mm probe covers everyday reef monitoring. Choose the glass Laboratory Standard version if you need laboratory-grade response or run a demanding ozone-dosing setup.
