This two-pack of combined carbon and wool cartridges is the replacement media for the Bioscape Hang On Power Filter, Small (350 L/h) – the wool layer traps free-floating particles while the carbon layer pulls out odour, discolouration and dissolved organics, in one drop-in unit.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: the Bioscape Hang On Power Filter, Small (350 L/h), in freshwater or marine aquariums.
Not suitable for: the Medium (550 L/h), Large (750 L/h) or XLarge (1000 L/h) Bioscape hang-on filters, which take a larger cartridge, or hang-on filters from other brands.
Care and replacement
Rinse the wool face in old tank water during a routine clean to knock off trapped debris and extend its working life. The carbon component is chemically spent well before the wool looks dirty and does not recharge by rinsing, so replace the whole cartridge once flow through the filter noticeably slows or the wool has browned and flattened. Where possible, change the cartridge on its own rather than on the same day as a large gravel clean or filter strip-down, so the tank's biological filtration isn't knocked back twice at once.

Common questions
How do I know it's time to change the cartridge?
Watch the flow out of the filter's spout – a visible drop means the media is loading up. The wool will also look brown and flattened rather than white and fluffy.
Can I rinse and reuse this cartridge?
You can rinse the wool face to extend it a little longer, but the carbon inside doesn't regenerate by rinsing – once it's exhausted, only a fresh cartridge restores the chemical filtration.
Will this fit my Medium or Large Bioscape hang-on filter?
No. This is the Small (350 L/h) size only. The Medium, Large and XLarge filters use a larger cartridge.
Does the pack include instructions?
No separate instructions are needed – the cartridge is a direct drop-in replacement for the filter's existing media slot.
