A snug tunnel sized for smaller fish and shrimp. The Bioscape Hide Cave M is a tube-shaped aquarium hide, 6–7cm in diameter and 30–40cm long — narrower and longer than the Hide Cave L, and better suited to smaller fish, shrimp and crayfish that want a tight, secure space.

Key features
  • 6–7cm diameter, 30–40cm length — a longer, narrower tunnel than the L size, suited to smaller-bodied fish and invertebrates.
  • Open at both ends — an escape route as well as a hiding spot, which cuts down on cornering between tankmates.
  • Doubles as a spawning cave — suits smaller cave-spawning fish and shrimp that breed in an enclosed tube.
  • One shelter per territorial fish — adding a hide each for territorial tankmates reduces aggression more reliably than adding tank volume.

Diameter 8–12cm 6–7cm
Length 20–30cm 30–40cm
Best for Plecos, larger cichlids and other bigger cave-dwellers Smaller fish, shrimp and crayfish, or a longer, narrower tunnel

The narrower 6–7cm diameter suits fish and shrimp that want a tight-fitting tunnel; if you're housing a larger pleco or cichlid that needs to turn around inside, the Hide Cave L's 8–12cm diameter is the better fit.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
  • Suitable for: smaller fish, shrimp, crayfish and other invertebrates, and smaller cave-spawning species.
  • Not suitable for: larger plecos or cichlids that need to turn around inside the tube — the wider Hide Cave L (VINE20) suits those better.
Care and maintenance

Yes — the narrow tube shape suits shrimp and crayfish as well as small fish.

Will it work as a breeding cave?

Yes — the open-tube shape suits smaller cave-spawning species that breed inside an enclosed tunnel.

What is it made from?
