Suitable for any filter with a media basket or chamber, and for a media bag dropped into a sump. Not a mechanical or chemical stage; keep wool or sponge in front of it so debris does not clog the pores.

Rinse the cylinders gently in a bucket of old tank water at a water change, never under chlorinated tap water. It is not a monthly replacement item like filter wool. If pieces ever start to break down, replace only part of it at a time so the bacteria colony carries on.
