Bioscape Space Helmet 16 x 12.5 x 11cm
An oversized retro astronaut helmet built as a display-tank centrepiece. The Bioscape Space Helmet is a hand-finished, non-toxic resin ornament at 16 × 12.5 × 11 cm, styled as a weathered space helmet with an open visor cavity fish can use as a hideaway.
Key features
- The largest of the three – sized as a stand-alone feature rather than a background piece; see the comparison table below against Space Helmet No.1 and No.2.
- Hand-finished resin – cast and hand-painted, so texture and colour vary slightly piece to piece.
- Open visor cavity – gives fish a hideaway spot within the helmet shape.
- Retro sci-fi styling – a weathered, rounded astronaut helmet look.

Which Bioscape helmet do I need?
| Model | Dimensions | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Space Helmet No.1 | 11 × 11 cm | Nano tanks and compact aquascapes, smaller fish and shrimp |
| Space Helmet No.2 | 11 × 12 cm | Nano to small display tanks, marginally more internal cavity than No.1 |
| Space Helmet | 16 × 12.5 × 11 cm | Standard display tanks, a larger stand-alone centrepiece |
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for standard to larger display tanks, freshwater and marine, where a sizeable feature piece suits the layout. For nano tanks where this footprint would dominate the scape, the smaller Space Helmet No.1 or No.2 sits more comfortably – see the comparison table above.
Care and maintenance
Rinse thoroughly under running water before adding it to the tank to clear manufacturing dust or loose resin particles. No soaking or curing is required – it's inert and won't affect pH or water chemistry.
Warranty and delivery
Covered against manufacturing defects under Bioscape's warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Common questions
Will it affect my water chemistry?
No – it's a non-toxic, inert resin that doesn't alter pH or hardness.
Is it too big for a nano tank?
It's the largest of the three Bioscape helmet ornaments, so in a small nano tank it can dominate the layout. Space Helmet No.1 (11 × 11 cm) or No.2 (11 × 12 cm) is a better fit for compact setups.
Does it float or sink?
It sinks and sits in place on the substrate; no gluing or weighting down is needed for normal use.
Is it reef safe?
Bioscape markets it as safe for both freshwater and marine setups, but as with any ornament in a sensitive reef system, rinse it well and introduce it gradually if you're being cautious.
