Exo Terra Screen Cover for 18 x 18" Glass Terrarium
Ventilation and security in one lid. The Exo Terra Screen Cover (45 × 45 cm, manufacturer code PT2616) is a stainless steel mesh top that sits over the terrarium, letting airflow, heat and UVB from an overhead lamp reach the enclosure while keeping residents and feeder insects contained.
Key features
- Stainless steel mesh – durable, corrosion-resistant screen that won't rust in a humid enclosure.
- Passes UVB, infrared heat and airflow – Exo Terra states the mesh design allows UVB and infrared penetration and supports the ventilation a healthy enclosure needs.
- Keeps residents and feeders contained – fine enough weave to hold in escape-minded species and feeder insects alike.
- Light and easy to lift – simple access for feeding and enclosure maintenance.

Will it fit my terrarium?
Sized for the Exo Terra Natural Terrarium Small (45 × 45 × 45 cm) and its size-matched siblings. Check your enclosure's top opening against the 45 × 45 cm measurement first.
Does the mesh block UVB from a lamp mounted on top?
Exo Terra states the screen "allows UVB and infrared penetration," but publishes no transmission percentage. Mesh always attenuates UVB to some degree – mount your lamp a little closer, or allow for it against the lamp's own UV Index chart.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable as a top cover for the 45 × 45 cm Exo Terra Natural Terrarium range, with heat or UVB lamps mounted above it.
- Not a substitute for a secure locking clip where escape-prone species are housed – check the enclosure's own locking hardware.
Care and maintenance
Wipe down and rinse periodically to clear dust and mineral build-up from misting, which reduces airflow through the mesh over time.
Goes well with
- Exo Terra heat and UVB lamps – sized to sit above this cover.
- Exo Terra Rock Background – completes the same terrarium format.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law, in addition to any manufacturer warranty. Ships as a standard parcel.
Common questions
Is the frame as well as the mesh stainless steel?
Exo Terra confirms the mesh is stainless steel; the frame material isn't specified in the manufacturer's own listing.
Will it fit a 45 × 45 × 60 cm tall terrarium?
It matches the 45 × 45 cm footprint shared across the Natural Terrarium Small range – check your model's top opening first.
Does it need replacing over time?
No fixed interval is published. Replace if the mesh corrodes, deforms or is damaged.
