Genuine Fluval bio-foam insert, item 19670, made for the AquaClear 20 power filter. Sold three to a pack, this is the dense blue foam that sits in the AquaClear's main media basket, combining mechanical filtration with a home for the beneficial bacteria that keep ammonia and nitrite down.

Will it fit my filter?
This foam is cut for the AquaClear 20 only. The AquaClear 30 uses a larger foam insert sold separately – check the model number printed on the filter body, since the 20 and 30 housings look similar at a glance.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for routine media rotation and for restoring flow on a filter that has slowed from a clogged foam block. Not suitable for the AquaClear 30, 50, 70 or 110 – each size takes its own foam insert.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the foam in removed tank water, never tap water, to avoid killing the bacteria colony it carries. Replace only one of the three pads at a time, staggered by a few weeks each – replacing all the biological media in one go can trigger a mini ammonia spike as the colony resets.

Common questions
Does this fit the AquaClear 30?
No. The AquaClear 30 takes a larger foam insert. This pack is sized for the AquaClear 20 only.
Should I replace all three pads at once?
No – stagger replacement across the pack so the tank never loses its whole biological filter colony in one service.
Can I rinse this foam in tap water?
Rinse in removed tank water instead. Tap water chlorine or chloramine can kill the bacteria the foam is carrying.
