Fluval Spring Scissors 15cm
Fine, spring-loaded scissors built for pruning in tight spaces other tools can't reach. The Fluval Spring Scissors (model 14482) measure 15 cm end to end and open automatically after every cut, so you're not fighting the spring on top of fighting the plants.
Key features
- Spring-loaded action – the blades re-open on their own after each cut, so one hand can keep trimming without resetting the tool.
- Carbonised stainless steel – a hard-wearing coating suited to repeated contact with tank water.
- Compact 15 cm length – sized for reaching into small aquariums and dense, tight planting rather than open aquascapes.
- Precision trimming – built for cleaning up fine growth without disturbing the surrounding layout.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for pruning aquarium plants in small tanks and tight spaces where a full-size 25 cm pair won't fit. Not the best choice for open aquascapes or heavy stem trimming across a wide tank – Fluval's longer Curved and S-Curved Scissors reach further and suit that job better.
Care and maintenance
Rinse in fresh water and dry after each use. Like any carbon steel tool, leaving it wet for long periods will shorten its life even with the protective coating.
Goes well with
- Fluval Curved Scissors 25cm – for trimming across larger, more open layouts.
- Fluval S-Curved Scissors 25cm – reaches over plants to trim behind them without disturbing the foreground.
- Fluval Straight Forceps 27cm – for planting and positioning stems and cuttings.
- Fluval Aquascaping Tools Kit – the 3-piece set that pairs these with a substrate shovel in one storage pouch.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law in addition to any manufacturer terms. Standard shipping.
Common questions
Will these fit into a small nano tank?
Yes – the compact 15 cm length is exactly what makes them useful in tight spaces, where a full-size 25 cm pair is too long to manoeuvre.
Do I need to hold them open between cuts?
No. The spring re-opens the blades automatically after every cut, so you only need to squeeze.
What's the blade made from?
Stainless steel with a carbonised coating, chosen for repeated exposure to tank water.
Can I use these for stem plants across a whole tank?
You can, but the 25 cm Curved or S-Curved Scissors reach further and are the better choice for wider layouts – these are built for close, tight-space work.
