Ocean Nutrition frozen krill superba
Whole Antarctic krill for larger predatory fish and invertebrates. Ocean Nutrition Frozen Krill Superba is a 100 g pack of whole Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) bound into cubes, sized for larger carnivorous fish and invertebrates rather than small community species. It suits both freshwater and marine setups.
Key features
- Whole Antarctic krill – a coarser, meatier food than copepods or cyclops, aimed at bigger fish.
- Suits fresh and marine setups – one product for large predatory fish on either side of the fishroom.
- Takes carnivorous invertebrates as well as fish – anemones, shrimp and crabs will accept it alongside larger fish.
- 35-cube blister pack – portion one cube at a time rather than breaking into a larger block.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suited to larger carnivorous fish such as groupers, lionfish, puffers, triggerfish and wrasses, and to carnivorous invertebrates including anemones, shrimp and crabs. It's also readily accepted by larger freshwater predators. Not sized for small-mouthed fish, fry or filter feeders – for those, a finer food such as cyclops or copepods is the better match.
Feeding and thawing
Ocean Nutrition doesn't publish a specific feeding frequency for this product. As a general rule, offer only as much as fish and invertebrates will clear within a few minutes rather than feeding to a fixed schedule. Thaw a cube in a little tank water before feeding rather than dropping it in frozen, and never refreeze any portion once thawed.
Warranty, delivery and storage
Keep frozen until use, and never refreeze once thawed. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in addition to anything stated here.
Frozen food is pick up only from our North Lakes store, because a pack that thaws on the way cannot be refrozen.
Common questions
What size fish is this krill suited to?
It's a coarser food aimed at larger carnivorous fish – groupers, lionfish, puffers, triggerfish and wrasses – rather than small community fish or fry.
Will my anemone or crabs eat this?
Yes – carnivorous invertebrates including anemones, shrimp and crabs will readily take krill.
Can I use this in a freshwater tank?
Yes, it's suitable for larger freshwater predatory fish as well as marine species.
Should I thaw it before feeding?
Ocean Nutrition doesn't give specific thawing instructions for this product; thawing a cube in tank water first, rather than adding it frozen, is the safer default and lets you judge the right portion.
Goes well with
Rotates well with Ocean Nutrition's finer frozen foods – cyclops, daphnia and copepods – to cover the full range of mouth sizes in a mixed tank.
