Red Sea ReefDose Gear Motor Assembly
The part that actually turns a stuck or noisy ReefDose head. This is the genuine Red Sea replacement gear motor assembly for the ReefDose 2 and ReefDose 4 — the drive unit inside each dosing head that spins the peristaltic rotor.
Key features
- Genuine Red Sea factory part, not a generic substitute
- Direct-fit replacement — no cutting or rewiring of the dosing head
- Restores smooth, correctly-timed peristaltic rotation
Will this fit my ReefDose?
Yes. The dosing head and its gear motor are identical across the ReefDose 2 and ReefDose 4 — a ReefDose 4 simply carries four of them, one per channel.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable when a dosing head has stopped turning, runs rough or noisy, or has slowed dosing. Not the fix if the head turns normally but the dose volume itself has drifted — check the head tube first, since a worn peristaltic tube is the more common cause of under-dosing.
Care and maintenance
After fitting, run a manual calibration dose with the ReefDose Measuring Cylinder before returning the channel to its schedule — a mechanical repair almost always shifts the delivered volume slightly.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Red Sea's standard spare parts warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard parcel delivery.
Common questions
How do I know if it's the gear motor and not the tube?
If the head isn't turning at all, or turns roughly and noisily, it's usually the motor. If the head turns normally but the dose is low, replace the head tube first.
Is this the same part for a ReefDose 2 and a ReefDose 4?
Yes — one gear motor assembly, fitted per head, works in either pump.
Do I need to recalibrate after fitting?
Yes. Run a manual dose and check it against the measuring cylinder before trusting the schedule again.
