Red Sea Reefer G2+170 Sump

The genuine glass sump for a REEFER 170 G2+, direct from Red Sea. This is the factory in-cabinet sump for the REEFER 170 G2+ only — the chambered glass unit that holds your filter bags, bubble trap and return section. Order it to replace a cracked or leaking original and bring the system back to factory dimensions.

Key features
  • Genuine Red Sea part — factory sump built to the same chamber layout as the original 170 G2+.
  • Correct 37-litre capacity — matches the REEFER 170 G2+ system spec, so your dosing and top-up calculations still hold.
  • Bubble trap chamber — the same baffle layout as the original, built to quiet return flow before it reaches the return pump.
  • Direct-fit — sized for the 170 G2+ cabinet footprint; no cutting or packing required.

Will it fit my tank?

This sump is cut specifically for the REEFER 170 G2+. Red Sea does not carry a single sump across its Reefer sizes — the 200 G2+ and 300 G2+ use their own sump castings at 42 L and 54 L, and earlier G2 (non-plus) and G1 systems use different chamber layouts again. Check the model and generation printed on your cabinet or manual before ordering, since a sump built for a different size or generation will not sit correctly in this cabinet.

What's included, and not included
  • Included: the glass sump body only, in the standard chamber layout.
  • Not included: filter bags, media, plumbing fittings and pipework are not itemised in our current supplier data — reuse the originals from your existing system when you swap over, or ask us to confirm exact box contents before you order if that matters for your rebuild.
Fitting

Swapping a sump means draining and disconnecting the existing plumbing, lifting the old sump out through the cabinet door, and reconnecting the same pipework to the new one. It's a job most reefers handle themselves with basic tools, but budget an evening rather than a quick job, since you'll be resettling filter media and re-priming the return line. Transferring plumbing to a new sump is also the ideal moment to replace the connector O-rings.

Common questions

Does this fit the REEFER 170 G2 (without the plus)?

We can't confirm cross-fit between the G2 and G2+ generations from the data we hold — check your model plate or manual, or contact us with your system's details before ordering.

Can I use a different brand's sump instead?

Only if it matches the internal cabinet footprint and your existing plumbing sizes. A genuine Red Sea sump is the safer choice if you want the chambers, baffles and fittings to line up without modification.

Is this the whole sump or just a panel?

This is the complete glass sump unit, not a single glass panel or repair piece.
