Red Sea Reefer G2+ 200 Complete System black - 200L

A 200-litre reef platform with room to grow past your first year. The Red Sea REEFER™ 200 G2+ pairs a rimless, low-iron glass display with a matching black cabinet, in-cabinet sump and Red Sea's ReefATO+ automatic top-off — a wider footprint than the Nano 170 with the same sump architecture and the same upgrade path. It arrives without a return pump, protein skimmer or lighting; see What's included below before you plan the rest of the build.

What's included
  • Rimless, low-iron glass display aquarium with bevelled edges
  • Self-assembly cabinet with doors, in black, adjustable levelling feet and stainless steel hinges
  • In-cabinet glass sump with a mechanical filtration compartment, bubble trap and micron filter socks
  • Adjustable-height internal overflow with a silent standpipe and surface skimmer box
  • ReefATO+ automatic top-off: reservoir, float sensor and low-voltage dosing pump
  • Internal plumbing with outlet nozzle and bulkhead fittings
Not included
  • Return pump
  • Protein skimmer
  • Lighting fixture or mounting arm
  • ReefMat/NanoMat automatic filter roller
  • Live rock, substrate and livestock

Every item on that second list is sold separately — see Goes well with, below. If you want a Reefer with the skimmer, pump and lighting already fitted, the Reefer MAX range bundles them in; this G2+ is the tank-and-sump foundation only.

Key features
  • Rimless, low-iron glass — a clean sightline without the green tint of standard glass: front 10 mm, sides 12 mm, base 10 mm.
  • 200 L total system volume — 158 L in the display and 42 L in the sump, more working water volume than the Nano 170 for a more forgiving nutrient load.
  • Wider display than the 170 — 57.5 cm front-to-back gives noticeably more room for aquascaping depth at the same 60 cm length.
  • ReefATO+ auto top-off included — on many competing systems this is an extra purchase; here it ships fitted.
  • Silent internal overflow — a Red Sea-designed standpipe engineered to run quiet rather than gurgle.
  • Matt black cabinet finish — sits flush against a dark wall or media unit without drawing the eye to the stand.

Which REEFER G2+ do I need?

All four sizes share the same build, the same ReefATO+ top-off and the same sump architecture — the difference is footprint and working water volume.

Model Display volume Total system volume Display footprint (L x W x H) Sump volume Filled weight (approx.)
REEFER Nano 170 G2+ 128 L 165 L 60 x 50 x 51 cm 37 L 180 kg / 400 lb
REEFER 200 G2+ 158 L 200 L 60 x 57.5 x 53 cm 42 L 275 kg / 607 lb
REEFER 250 G2+ 203 L 245 L 90 x 50 x 53 cm 42 L 315 kg / 695 lb
REEFER 300 G2+ 246 L 300 L 90 x 57.5 x 55 cm 54 L 380 kg / 840 lb

The 200 keeps the Nano 170's 60 cm length but adds depth and height, so it suits an aquarist who has outgrown a nano tank but doesn't yet have the 90 cm run needed for the 250 or 300. Step up in length, not just volume, if aquascaping room matters more to you than total litres.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for: saltwater and reef keeping, a second or upgrade reef tank, aquarists who want Red Sea's sump and ATO engineering without the full MAX package, rooms where 60 cm is the maximum length but more depth is welcome.

Not suitable for: running the day it arrives — you'll need at minimum a return pump, heater and lighting before it can be filled and cycled. Freshwater use is fine mechanically, but the sump and ATO are designed around saltwater evaporation rates.

Will it fit my space?

Red Sea's installation guidance asks for at least 10 cm of clearance behind the cabinet for plumbing and cabling, and around 60 cm of clear access down one side for maintenance. The cabinet top sits at approximately 86 cm from the floor. Filled and running, the 200 weighs approximately 275 kg (607 lb) — check with a builder before siting a system this heavy on an upper storey or over a long unsupported span, as you would for any large aquarium.

Goes well with
  • A return pump sized to the plumbing — the sump and overflow are engineered for a mid-size DC return; check hose and bulkhead size before buying.
  • A protein skimmer rated up to 200 L — the sump's skimmer chamber is pre-plumbed to accept one.
  • A Red Sea ReefLED or equivalent fixture — sized to a 60 cm span, mounted on an arm rather than the included cabinet.
  • Red Sea Coral Pro Salt or Reef Foundation — for your first fill and ongoing top-ups.
  • A heater sized to 200 L of total system volume — against your room's typical ambient.
Warranty and delivery

Red Sea's manufacturer warranty on the Reefer G2+ tank and cabinet applies in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law, which are not affected by any manufacturer warranty term or exclusion. Register your system with Red Sea after purchase and keep your invoice as proof of purchase. As a large glass-and-cabinet system, the 200 ships on a pallet by oversize freight rather than standard parcel courier — check the freight estimate at checkout, and contact us before ordering if you need help arranging trade or elevator access.

Common questions

Does the REEFER 200 G2+ come with a return pump?

No. The tank, cabinet, sump and ReefATO+ top-off are included; a return pump, protein skimmer and lighting are sold separately and sized to your setup.

Is the 200 better value than the Nano 170 or the 250?

It depends what you're solving for. The 200 keeps the 170's compact 60 cm length but adds depth and volume, so it suits a room that can't take a 90 cm run but wants more water than the 170 offers. If you have the 90 cm of length, the 250 gives you significantly more display volume for a moderate weight increase.

Does the black cabinet need any different care to the white one?

No — both are the same marine-spec laminated construction, just a different finish. Wipe down with a damp cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners on either colour.

Can I run the 200 as a freshwater planted tank instead of a reef?

Yes — the tank, cabinet and sump work equally well in freshwater. The ReefATO+ top-off and sump plumbing are designed around saltwater evaporation and filtration but function fine in freshwater use.

Does the 200 take the same accessories as the 170, 250 and 300?

Most Red Sea Reefer G2+ accessories — media baskets, the ReefMat roller, ReefWave pumps and RSK dosing gear — are shared across the range, but always check the fitment note on the accessory's own product page before ordering.
