Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for a reef keeper setting up a complete marine system with a sump. Not suited to a first aquarium bought on impulse: a reef system needs a cycled tank (one where beneficial bacteria have built up to process waste), mixed saltwater and regular testing before livestock goes in. Our North Lakes team can talk you through set-up, placement and what else you will need.
Safety
A filled reef system of this size weighs several hundred kilograms, because each litre of water weighs about 1 kg. Place it on a level, solid floor, and have the floor checked by a builder if it is not a concrete slab. Run all equipment from an RCD (safety switch) protected outlet and leave a drip loop (a low loop in each cable so water runs off before it reaches the plug).
