ReefATO+ ATO Sensor
The sensor that tells your ReefATO+ when to stop. This is Red Sea's genuine replacement probe for the ReefATO+ 3-in-1 auto top-off system – a solid-state, titanium level sensor with an integrated thermometer, swapping in for the original sensor when it drifts, fouls or fails outright. It suits any ReefATO+ owner seeing erratic top-off behaviour, an unstable temperature reading, or outright sensor failure.
Key features
- Solid-state EC-technology probe – no float, float arm or moving part to jam or wear out.
- Integrated temperature sensor – reads to ±0.1°C, logged alongside the ReefATO+ system's water-level data.
- Genuine direct-fit replacement – plugs in in place of the original sensor with no reprogramming step.
- Feeds the leak-detection logic – on the full ReefATO+ system, the same probe technology underpins the leak alarm as well as top-off switching.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable as a genuine spare or replacement sensor for any Red Sea ReefATO+ unit. Red Sea has not published whether this sensor is interchangeable with the separate ReefControl ATO Module's digital level and temperature sensor – the two systems use similar solid-state probe technology but are documented and sold as distinct parts, so cross-fitment isn't confirmed. If you're running ReefControl rather than standalone ReefATO+, check with us before ordering.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the probe tip periodically to clear salt creep or biofilm that can affect the level reading, and confirm the sensor is seated fully in its magnetic bracket after any maintenance that disturbs the sump.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Red Sea's manufacturer warranty, which applies in addition to your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a small parcel item.
Common questions
Will this fit my ReefControl ATO Module instead of ReefATO+?
We can't confirm that from Red Sea's published documentation – the two systems carry different part numbers even though the sensor technology is similar. Ask us to check before ordering if you're running ReefControl.
Does replacing the sensor mean redoing the ATO calibration?
No. It's a direct plug-in replacement, though it's worth watching top-off behaviour over the first day to confirm it's reading correctly.
What usually causes a ReefATO+ sensor to need replacing?
Salt creep, biofilm build-up on the probe tip, or physical damage during tank maintenance are the common causes of an unreliable reading.
Goes well with
- ReefATO+ Magnetic ATO Sensor Mounting Bracket – holds the sensor at a consistent, repeatable height.
