Seachem Flourite Sand
Key features
- Works on its own: Seachem says it is most effective used alone as the whole substrate bed, but it can be mixed with other gravels.
- No laterite needed: gravel modifiers such as laterite (an iron rich clay added under gravel for plant roots) are not necessary.
- pH neutral: not coated or treated, so it will not alter pH.
- No replacement needed for the life of the aquarium.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Best suited to planted aquariums, and can be used in any freshwater aquarium. Seachem does not list it for marine aquariums.
Care
It is pre-washed, but as a natural product it may get dusty in transit, so rinse it before use. Fill the tank slowly: place a bowl on the substrate and pour water into the bowl so it overflows gently onto the bed. Some cloudiness at first is normal; mechanical filtration such as filter floss will clear it, and Seachem Clarity speeds this up.
