Zoo Med Black Light 5W
A dedicated night-viewing lamp, not a UVB source. The Zoo Med Creatures LED Black Light is a 5 W, 395 nm LED bulb built for the Creatures Dome Lamp Fixture, letting you watch scorpions, invertebrates and nocturnal reptiles under a soft violet glow after dark without switching on a bright room light or disturbing the animal's day/night cycle. It produces UV-A/violet light only – it emits no UVB and does not supply the D3-synthesis wavelengths reptiles need from a basking or UVB lamp, so it is a viewing accessory, not a health-lighting product.
Key features
- 395 nm LED output – a soft violet glow that makes fluorescent markings and pale colouring on nocturnal invertebrates and reptiles easy to see without a torch or room light.
- Low 5 W draw – runs on the Creatures Dome Lamp Fixture without adding meaningful heat or running cost to a small enclosure.
- Compact size – 5.9 cm long, 6.1 cm wide, 6.7 cm high, sized for nano and Creatures-style enclosures.
- LED, not incandescent – runs cool and is built for periodic nighttime use rather than continuous daytime lighting.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for periodic nighttime viewing of scorpions, invertebrates and nocturnal reptiles kept in a Creatures Dome Lamp Fixture. Not suitable as a source of UVB for any reptile that needs it for vitamin D3 synthesis, and not intended to be left on continuously – it is a viewing light, not a primary enclosure light.

Common questions
Does this bulb provide UVB for my reptile?
No. It emits 395 nm UV-A/violet light for night viewing only. A separate UVB lamp rated for the animal's species is still required.
Can I leave it on all the time?
Zoo Med rates it for periodic nighttime use rather than continuous operation – running it only when you want to view the animal keeps the enclosure's natural day/night cycle intact.
What fixture does it fit?
The Creatures Dome Lamp Fixture, sold separately.
Will it heat the enclosure?
At 5 W and LED, heat output is minimal – it is not intended as a heat source.
Goes well with
Pairs with the Creatures Dome Lamp Fixture it's designed for, plus a species-appropriate UVB lamp and daytime basking bulb for enclosures that need one – this bulb does not replace either.
