Aqua Medic 250µS Test Fluid 60ml

Low-range conductivity readings are only as good as the last time the meter was checked against a known standard. Aqua Medic's 250µS Test Fluid is a 60 ml low-range calibration standard used to verify and recalibrate conductivity meters at the low end of the scale — the range relevant to RO/DI product water and freshwater conductivity, rather than full-strength seawater.

Key features
  • Fixed 250 µS/cm reference value — a known low-range benchmark for conductivity electrodes.
  • 60 ml bottle — enough for several calibration checks.
  • Pairs with the 50 mS fluid — together they give a two-point calibration spanning low and high conductivity.
Specifications
Volume 60 ml
Reference value 250 µS/cm
Range Low-range conductivity
Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for checking and calibrating conductivity meters used to verify RO/DI product water purity or freshwater tank conductivity. Not suitable for calibrating at full marine salinity — use the 50 mS fluid for that end of the scale — and not intended to be added to aquarium water.

Care and maintenance

Recalibrate at the interval your meter manufacturer recommends. Use fresh fluid for each check rather than reusing exposed fluid, and reseal the bottle promptly to protect the reference value.

Safety

For electrode calibration only — not for consumption and not for addition to aquarium water. Avoid contact with eyes and skin; rinse with water if contact occurs.

Goes well with

Aqua Medic 50mS Test Fluid for full-range calibration, and Aqua Medic 230mV Redox Test Fluid if the same controller also monitors ORP.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by Aqua Medic's standard guarantee against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard parcel delivery.

Common questions

What's the difference between this and the 50mS fluid?

This 250µS fluid checks the low end of a conductivity meter's range — RO/DI or freshwater readings. The 50mS fluid checks the high end, around full seawater strength.

Can I use this to calibrate a reef salinity meter?

On its own, no — reef salinity sits near the high end of the scale, so the 50mS fluid is the relevant reference. Some meters use both points together.

How often should I recalibrate?

Follow your meter manufacturer's recommended schedule, and check sooner if a reading looks inconsistent with what you'd expect from the water source.

Is this fluid safe to add to my tank?

No. It's a calibration standard for the electrode only, not a water treatment.
