Aqua Medic Hopstop (3 pcs L 480 x W 50mm Acrylic Strips)
Three acrylic strips that close the gap fish use to jump out of an open-top aquarium. Aqua Medic Hopstop clips onto the inside rim of an open-top tank, narrowing the surface gap between the water and the top of the glass so nocturnal jumpers can't clear it in the dark.
Key features
- Three acrylic strips – 480 × 50 mm each, covering roughly 1.4 m of rim between them.
- Clip-mounted – six mounting clips included, no drilling, silicone or adhesive.
- Clear acrylic – sits along the rim without blocking the view into the tank.

Will it fit my tank?
Three strips cover about 1.4 m of rim in total – measure the open sections of your tank's top rim (the parts without a hood, light or brace already covering them) against that total before ordering. Multiple packs can be combined to cover a longer rim.
What's included
- 3 acrylic strips, 480 × 50 mm
- 6 mounting clips
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for open-top aquariums with an exposed glass or acrylic rim where fish are jumping out or at risk of it.
Not a substitute for a full mesh lid or cover on species that are strong, persistent jumpers (many wrasse, some gobies, freshwater hatchetfish) – Hopstop narrows the gap but doesn't fully enclose the top the way a lid does.
Common questions
Does Hopstop stop all fish from jumping?
It narrows the gap between the water surface and the top of the rim, which stops most casual jumpers. Determined or powerful jumpers are still better contained with a full mesh lid.
Will it block light or airflow to the tank?
The strips sit along the rim itself rather than across the open water surface, so they don't cover the main gas-exchange area of the tank.
Can I trim the strips to fit an odd-shaped rim?
The manufacturer doesn't publish cutting instructions for this product; check with us before cutting acrylic strips, as doing so may affect fit and isn't confirmed as supported.
