Aqua Medic mV Monitor

A dedicated redox (ORP) display for reef tanks, so you can see where the water sits without guessing from a test kit. The Aqua Medic mV Monitor is a display-only redox meter, reading from -1,999 mV to +1,999 mV on a continuous LED display. It doesn't switch equipment — for that, see the Aqua Medic mV Computer-Set — but it gives an always-on reading of a parameter that changes faster than most weekly test kits can catch.

Key features
  • Continuous LED display — shows the current redox (mV) reading at a glance, all the time, rather than a spot reading from a test kit.
  • Wide measurement range — -1,999 mV to +1,999 mV covers the working range of a reef tank many times over.
  • Refillable platinum-tip probe — BNC-connected electrode, refillable rather than disposable, supplied with an electrode holder.
  • Zero-point plug included — for checking and setting the electrode's zero point during calibration.
  • Display only, by design — no relay output to wire in, so it's simpler to install where you only need a reading, not automated control.

mV monitor unit, mV electrode with BNC fitting, electrode holder, zero-point plug, and power supply.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suited to any freshwater or marine tank where you want a continuous redox reading — most commonly reef tanks running ozone, skimmers or UV, where redox is a useful proxy for water quality. Not suitable if you want the tank to react automatically to a redox reading — this unit displays only; the mV Computer-Set adds the relay control.

Care and maintenance

Calibrate the probe against a known reference regularly, and refill its internal electrolyte with Aqua Medic KCL Solution as part of that routine. A slow redox drift is easy to miss on a display you glance at daily, so treat calibration as scheduled maintenance rather than something you do once the number looks obviously wrong.

Goes well with
  • Aqua Medic KCL Solution for pH & mV Probes 60 mL — for probe calibration and refills.
  • Aqua Medic mV Computer-Set — if you later want the same reading to control equipment automatically.
Warranty and delivery

Covered by the Aqua Medic manufacturer warranty against defects, in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Standard parcel delivery Australia-wide.

Common questions

Does the mV Monitor control any equipment?

No. It displays redox only. If you want the reading to switch equipment like an ozoniser automatically, you need the Aqua Medic mV Computer-Set instead.

Can I upgrade from this to the mV Computer-Set later?

The two use the same style of refillable BNC probe, but they're separate units — moving to the Computer-Set means buying that controller rather than adding a module to this one.

How often should I calibrate the probe?

On a regular schedule, using a known reference solution, rather than waiting for the display to look obviously wrong — redox drift is gradual.

What does a redox reading actually tell me?

It's a proxy for the oxidising capacity of your water, influenced by aeration, skimming, UV and ozone use. It's not a replacement for standard water tests, but it catches changes faster than a weekly test kit does.
