Aqua Medic Regular - CO2 Regulator
Give your planted tank steady CO2, not a slow leak or a sudden dump. The Aqua Medic Regular is a single-stage CO2 pressure regulator for planted aquariums, holding a fixed 1.5 bar working pressure off a cylinder rated to 70 bar, with a needle valve for fine flow adjustment and dual gauges so you can see cylinder and working pressure at a glance.
Key features
- Single-stage regulation – steps cylinder pressure down to a fixed 1.5 bar working pressure, rated for cylinders up to 70 bar (120 bar maximum inlet).
- Needle valve fine control – flow is set with the needle valve rather than the regulator itself, giving a usable adjustment range of roughly 70–1,200 mL per minute.
- Dual pressure gauges – one shows remaining cylinder pressure, the other shows regulated working pressure, so you can see when a cylinder is running low without disconnecting it.
- CO2-specific – built for CO2 only; not rated for other compressed gases.

What's included / what you'll still need
Included: the regulator body with dual gauges and needle valve.
You'll still need: a solenoid valve if you want the CO2 supply to switch off automatically overnight or on a timer (sold separately), a bubble counter, a check valve to stop tank water siphoning back into the regulator, and a CO2 cylinder.
Will it fit my setup?
The Regular uses Aqua Medic's European-pattern cylinder connection – the closely related Regular Mini in the same range is specified as W21.8 x 1/14". This isn't the CGA320/POL fitting used on most Australian-filled CO2 bottles, so check compatibility with us, or ask about an adapter, before you buy a cylinder to go with it.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for: planted freshwater aquariums running pressurised CO2 injection, paired with a diffuser or reactor and, ideally, a solenoid valve and timer or controller.
- Not suitable for: gases other than CO2, or as a stand-alone automatic on/off system – add a solenoid for that.
Safety
CO2 systems should always run with a check valve to prevent aquarium water being drawn back into the regulator, and should be checked for leaks at every connection point after setup using a soapy water test. Maximum inlet pressure is 120 bar – never connect to a cylinder or gas source rated above this.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by the manufacturer's warranty in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Contact us for the current warranty term. This is a compact, unpressurised item for freight purposes when shipped without a filled cylinder.
Common questions
Does this come with a solenoid valve?
No. The Regular is the regulator body only; add a solenoid valve if you want the CO2 supply to switch off automatically overnight or on a timer.
Will it fit a standard Australian CO2 bottle?
It uses Aqua Medic's European-pattern cylinder connection rather than the Australian CGA320/POL fitting, so check with us about an adapter before pairing it with a locally-filled cylinder.
What flow rate can I run?
The needle valve gives fine control across roughly 70–1,200 mL per minute – most planted tanks run well inside that range; start low and increase gradually while watching your drop checker or pH.
Does it include a bubble counter?
No, a bubble counter isn't included – add one in the line to see your bubble rate, or use one built into a diffuser or reactor.
