Bioscape in line CO2 Reactor 16mm

This in-line reactor dissolves CO2 into your canister filter's return flow without an extra diffuser cluttering the tank. It plumbs directly into the outlet hose between the filter and the aquarium, breaking injected CO2 into fine bubbles against a ceramic core so it dissolves into the water on its way back to the tank.

Key features
  • Nothing in the tank – the reactor sits in the hose line outside the aquarium, so there's no diffuser, bell or ceramic disc visible inside the display.
  • Ceramic atomiser core – micro-bubbles CO2 against a replaceable ceramic disc for efficient dissolution, rather than relying on a single large bubble breaking up on its own.
  • Threaded hose lock rings – secures onto the tubing with compression-style lock rings rather than a plain push-fit, reducing the chance of a slow leak developing at the joint.
  • Serviceable – the ceramic core is a separate replaceable part, so a clogged or worn core doesn't mean replacing the whole reactor.

Will it fit my setup?

This reactor is built for 16/22mm canister filter tubing – check your filter's hose diameter before ordering, as Bioscape's smaller canister filters and some competitor filters use a narrower 12mm hose that this unit isn't sized for. It installs on the outlet side, after the filter and before the water returns to the tank.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for planted tanks running CO2 through a canister filter with 16/22mm hose, where keeping the display free of in-tank diffusers matters. Not suitable for tanks without a canister filter, or for filters running smaller 12mm hose – an in-tank diffuser is the better fit there.

Care and maintenance

Bioscape sells the ceramic atomiser core as a separate replacement part for when CO2 mist visibly coarsens or the core clogs with biofilm. Because the reactor lives inside the hose line, check it during routine filter maintenance rather than waiting for a visible problem.

Warranty and delivery

Covered against manufacturing defects under Bioscape's warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships by standard parcel post.

Common questions

Does this go before or after the filter?

After – it installs on the outlet hose, between the canister filter and the point the water returns to the tank.

Will I still see bubbles in the tank?

No. Diffusion happens inside the reactor in the hose line, so the display stays free of visible bubbles or an in-tank diffuser.

What do I do if the CO2 mist looks coarser than it used to?

That's the usual sign the ceramic atomiser core has clogged with biofilm. Bioscape sells the core as a separate replacement part rather than requiring a whole new reactor.

Does it need priming before use?

No priming steps are published for this unit – normal filter start-up (bleeding air from the hose line) is sufficient.
